We'll be updating all datacenter hardware to ensure we have a modern infrastructure and to support the game for many more years. This is not new/more megaservers and is unlikely to have a direct impact on performance, but will ensure that outdated hardware failures do not occur.

Wolf81✭✭✭Well it is "new" servers by reference to replacing the old 2014 hardware servers...but doesn't mean the are adding more megaservers and it is not a miracle fix for their spaghetti code. I would venture to guess their insurance is due to expire on the existing ones.1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Instead of 2014 servers that suck we are getting 2021 servers that suck.
They said that we shouldn't expect performance improvements from that in the reveal stream (at around 2:49:00 I think), even though the initial announcement of "the game running smoothly for years to come" sounds very different and almost misleading if you consider the reality of it. I am certain the point that ZOS wanted to get across was the "years to come" part, to confirm that ESO would continue getting support, but all we heard was "smoothly".
Best case scenario the performance is good for two or three years before the 2021 server starts dying again just like the last one. Worst case scenario literally nothing happens and they shouldn't have made a fuss about the hardware replacement and just did it quietly behind the scenes.This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.1 -

Only the last will be affected here and that is mostly an issue in Cyrodil in huge fights.
Yes this might well be very nice for Cyrodil but they don't want to get peoples hope up and they can not really call out people for playing on potatoes from Australia.Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.4 -

It could be even worse: you could be me living in the SW US, with satellite the only connection (other than dialup) available - with ping generally over 750ms.2
