I've seen a lot of people saying the healing changes are being reverted for good, and a lot of people saying no, just for the AOE testing. Can someone from Zos officially comment?

Just a heads up that the details for this test will be posted on Monday. Also, the revert to the healing change will start with this test and will remain that way until further notice (it is not tied directly to the test).

Oh my god, they're reverting the healing changes I could cry.

Me too! But I do not think it will be in time for Mid-Year Mayhem. Sounded like update 29.

It'll be before Update 29 launches, but we aren't able to make the changes before Midyear Mayhem begins tomorrow.

The reason for the changes was to see if the game calculations was contributing to lag in Cyrodiil. The Devs told us during the live stream that they've determined that is not the case so they are reverting to healing outside your group. I'm pretty sure they are not going to backtrack on that and that all their 'testing' on the matter is done. It is confirmed enough for me to conclude they are going to undo it for good.

If Brian Wheeler during their last official stream isn’t official enough for you I don’t know what else to tell you.

He worded it, when talking about the proc set tests "At this time we will be reversing the changes" which many people interpreted as *only* during the test, and no one has officially stated one way or another since.

No, I didn't miss them, just wishing I had something 100% conclusive to go on. I really *want* put of group healing back. I don't want to get my hopes up unless I'm sure.

If they revert it, it's bad idea. People need to learn to heal themselves or go in groups with healers.

Smaller groups and group-only healing were good changes.

I firmly disagree. It's actually distressing to see someone right next to you dropping in health and not being able to do anything.
It prevents organic grouping and impromptu teamwork as well.

Not much changes for organized guild groups with enough healers.
    Hopeless for pugs.

If its something PvP don't need its nerfs to pugs.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I find the official information by Gina pretty clear. If you want any more clarity, you might keep in mind that consoles will get healing outside of group - according to official information you can easily find by utilizing the dev tracker in the forum - only when the next DLC comes to console. So it obviously is not directly tied to the tests, it's just that it will be enabled on PC together with the test.

It seems we will keep that change until further notice.

What I don't get is WHY some people in this thread seem to be so against people being able to heal others 'outside of a group'? What is it to you?!?

One of my favorite things, as a Templar, is being able to heal random people I come across engaging in battle... whether dolmens, delves or public dungeons... part of the templar charm is being able to DPS -and- HEAL self & others... and I don't GROUP, I'm a solo PVE player. Yet one of the best things about this MMO is those random player encounters where you can actually participate without having to be in a group. Taking that away was just a stupid idea in the first place, let alone the fact I heard they did this solely based upon what some 'streamer' claimed. I was happy that they reversed it... just in time for my return to the game. ;)

PvP is all about choosing the weakest target and then pound them relentlessly in order to feel superior.
Random guys coming along and healing your victim, or your victim getting support from a nearby group, is messing up that cunning plan. ;)

The change to "group-only healing" primarily benefits players who playstyle is such that they only ever intentionally heal themselves or their group members. Typically these are players who like to fight outnumbered and with few allies from their alliance around, so they rarely had anyone else to heal anyways. If they did have allies, those allies weren't really part of their group so much as friendly players fighting the same enemies. Think solo players, organized small scale groups, and ball groups who like to fight outnumbered rather than zerg surf.

In contrast, the change hurt players who hang out with allies without joining their group or with more than one group. That can be PUGs, zergsurfers, or faction stacks, or just players who organically showed up at the same objective. Those players had greater numbers but were already less organized. Now, they got less healing.

To players who fight outnumbered, the change meant their less organized but more numerous opponents got less healing. This was a huge boon to solo players, 1vXers, organized small scale, and farming ball groups. The playstyle they like was barely touched while their opponents got nerfed.

It seems selfish, but I understand it. Its already hard to fight outnumbered by design, so its very easy to feel like ZOS should throw "skilled" outnunbered players a bone while reducing the effectiveness of large numbers of players massing together without organization.

Obviously, I don't agree, as I think the majority of players in Cyrodiil benefit from alliance-wide healing rather than group-only healing. But I understand why players who pretty much played with "group-only healing" beforehand like seeing their more numerous/less organized opponents nerfed. To them, it must seem like evening out the playing field.

(There's another argument in favor which is solo players who played ungrouped alongside allies who really like their own self heals hitting them instead of low health allies around them.)
