Stuck in Imperial City after ESO Plus Trial Ended

I have a secondary account that I created so my nieces could play ESO when they come visit. The account has the base game and the expansions but does not own any DLCs. It also does not have ESO Plus. During the ESO Plus free trial period, I took one of the characters to Clockwork City. Before the trial period ended, I traveled to my house in Eastmarch. I did not log into the character until Thursday, the start of Midyear Mayhem. From the house, I traveled directly into Imperial City Sewers.

When I tried to leave the sewers using the Exit door, I was told I had to buy Clockwork City as I did not own it. I thought it would return me to my house but every time I tried to use the door, the game tried to place me back in Clockwork and failed as I did not own it. I finally solved the problem by traveling to Cyrodill and taking a wayshrine from there. However, I was perplexed for a little bit about how to escape the clutches of Molag Bal.

Xbox NA account.

As I wrote in my original entry, that is how I got out eventually. But thank you for posting it as I think people could miss it in my post and might be wondering how to fix it.

    My suggestion for a solution:

If leaving an area that normally deposits you back "where you came from" - e.g. Cyrodiil and Imperial City - results in an invalid area because it belongs to DLC that you no longer have access to because a subscription ran out, the game should deposit you back at the wayshrine in your alliance's first town - Daggerfall, Vulkhel Guard or Davons Watch. Because that's a place you *always* have access to.

Not at a player home, because not every player has bothered to get a home - even the free inn room.
