I Want A Cannibal Skill Line

Bosmers eat what they kill. Just to respect them, if for no other reason, its a good idea. As well, I would like to be able to kill and eat the hordes of brightly coloured people who plug up my Dungeons when I'm trying to solo them.

Its not much to ask. ;)

Hilariously I discovered yesterday, I have 2 Werewolves, I thought I just had one, but I fat fingered the Ultimate on my StamSorc in Windhelm for much amusement. Its just Werewolves feeding and not Cannibalism.

According to lore becoming a shapeshifter breaks the Green Pact, so this isn't an option for the little mer looking to follow Yffre.

My first reaction is "no", for no particular reason...

But we have an entire Necromancer class, (for better or worse...) so hey, why not?

Cannibalism is kind of a big thing in the lore, apparently. It is a little odd that there's no way to explore that in-game. Especially for Bosmer. I envision it as a sort of Psijic-esque sort of thing. Quest line-related skill line, that is totally optional but has reasons behind it existing.

Yeah, but they kinda sorta realized the issues with strict adherence to the Green Pact.

You kill a dozen enemies on your way to a dungeon. You are supposed to eat them. All of them. So now you need a way to cart all the bodies with you so you can eat them all. Then you kill more while finishing the dungeon, so another 2 dozen are added to the cart. Since nothing is to be wasted, the general condition of....um...spoilage isn't taken into consideration. After a certain point, "not exactly appetizing" would be a severe understatement. Not to mention that General Malgoth can tell you about the bad things that happen when you have a clever enemy.....

I would also like to see this happen.

Skyrim managed to fit it in along with Lycanthropy and Vampirism so there's no particular reason why ESO shouldn't be able to accommodate it as well. One could easily imagine finding a hidden shrine to Namira (a la Skyrim) and obtaining the skill line that way.

Of course, coming up with the actual skills is the hard part. Unlike vampires and werewolfs, cannibals are fundamentally just regular people without any special powers. That limits their potential for flashy abilities like Mist Form or for transformations.

If we're reaching back to Skyrim, most of the perks of being a cannibal were related to sustain and health regeneration but those features make more sense as passives rather than active abilities.

Perhaps one could imagine Namira lending the player some additional minor powers and to have those informing some of the active abilities.

Unlike the other people here suggesting a full on skill line, I have a better idea that would allow cannibalism in ESO.

Why not just give us a few racial abilities?

We as races already have enough passives that a normal skill line has. Why not give us 5 abilities and a racial ultimate? Part of the bosmer's racial abilities could be eating corpses. Similar to the undead-corpse eating in WoW.

Not to mention racial unique abilities would add a whole layer to immersion and character building. I think this is WAY more realistic to ask for than an entire skill line based around cannibalism. Unless they ever add worshipping a daedric prince into the game and getting a skill based off the one you worship, that is.

But there are 9 other races in ESO and not everyone wants to be a Dunmer.

You could produce a skill line quite easily compared to Vampirism and Lycanthropy.

No new models are even needed (e.g. no wolf form, no Scion form, no Blood Mist form, etc.).

Seriously, it would be cool to be able to pick a Daedric Prince as your master and get a fitting skill line. Double fun if you can't change it.

Lore wise Bosmeri beleive wisdom of elders is passed on by being consumed by family a sort of birth/death rite.

Perhaps an existing minor buff that could be a food like augment. Consumed food wears off after a 1/2 hr or so when you know.... poop out your relatives.

How about a rare food recipe of Namira? A little bit like Bloody Mara. But the food should be bound, and you can get the ingredients by killing enemies only after you have learned the recipe.
Main char is a Strong Nord Man, Thief, Vampire, Healer, Mastercrafter. PC-EU since 2016.

Sometimes in an MMO you have to make a choice.

Don't want to use the dunmer racial skills? Well, don't be a dunmer.

This worked out nicely for WoW's active racial skills and Skyrim's active racial skills. No reason why it can't be done here. It might make people have to think about what race they want to play a little more too.

Being able to choose to serve a daedric prince and getting a unique skill line would be amazing.

Especially would love if Molag Bal was an option, thus opening some interesting story options. Could even add in new /minor/ variations of Werewolves and Vampires if you choose to directly serve Hircine or Molag over Lamae. This includes werewolves getting behemoth and vamps having an option to become a vamp lord. Even if it's only a cosmetic ult change with maybe a couple new passives/morphs for skills.

This is actually a great idea, people are starving for new skill lines so this would be great, not to mention how many of us would love a behemoth & Vampire Lord as an option. This won't happen anytime soon however, they said they have to be careful with new skills because of old-gen console memory limit.

With "current sensitivity" (feel free to translate that into gamer speak)

This will never happen, and it will also create the "you're the wrong race" syndrome when creating your character...we went through that at launch and many of us thought it sucked.

It comes down to a lot of work that not too many people actually want.

Why not just give us a few racial abilities?

I'd personally like the racial passives to go away since this is an MMO so we have more freedom to play the group we want to instead of needing to be "X race" to be min/maxed for a certain role. I think passives should be class based only but that does drive an additional question on potential subclasses being added.

I'd enjoy a cannibal skill line. I had a a blast with the Ring of Namira in Skyrim, just checking random corpses to see which ones it let me eat. There was something I found hilarious about going into a city in my fancy armor, a hero of great renown, and snacking on a dead guy I found in the street. Lol
