I was disappointed there was no physical disk for Greymoor. I hate putting my Elsweyr disk in the game.

    The website says that
There are four unique editions of Blackwood currently available for pre-purchase

    (emphasis by me).

The "currently" got me a bit confused. Is there any plan to announce a physical collector edition? If so, what about those who might be interested, but who'll already have purchased the digital one? Is there any plan for an order conversion, should this occur?

They threw the statue in their merch store.. that pretty much tells us that a physical edition is not gonna happen

That's my understanding too. If you would normally buy a physical collector's edition you can instead buy yourself some extra merchandise from the store.

I would expect physical editions to be phased out with those unique bonuses to be sold in a limited manner in the future. With the new consoles out and people slowly upgrading the entire gaming community is moving away from disc releases to digital distribution. Physical editions just aren’t in demand, esp for games that now constantly upgrade between disc releases and always need internet connections to function.

In general I still prefer physical media for my games (and music, and the rare times I buy movies or TV shows) but I do make an exception for MMOs for exactly this reason. I can't play it offline anyway and it's updated so frequently that what's on the disc is largely irrelevant.

I actually did buy a physical copy of ESO originally, but only because it was the cheapest option available at the time. (The official site was selling it at full price, local retailers were pricing it as a year old game they still had pre-order copies of.) I tried installing it from the disc, then had to patch it which took so long it might well have been replacing every single file.
