Well, yeah... min-maxers gonna min-max. Doesn't matter what the game is, what the game systems are, min-maxers are going to min-max. They do it in tabletop RPGs, they do it in looter shooters, they do it in MMOs, and on and on.
For the rest of us? They'll be more choices, or so it is said. We'll see when we learn more.

True what you say, but for me who enjoys the multiplayer aspect of this multiplayer game would like choices aswell, a choice to play hybrid builds, a choice to slot different skills, a choice to have a redguard magsorc. Without getting slapped back in line.
Either you adapt to the meta or you get replaced by people who do
Well the CP rework really got to me, also the armor rework.
All this talk about play how you want and you can only slot around 5 stars per category.
We all know it's going to be how it always was, people who play ESO for dungeons, trials and pvp they will always slot the meta. Even if there are 1000 stars, people who play hard content are going to run around with the same stars just as we now run around with the same skills.
Sure if you are a solo player running around like it's a single player game have at it, slot your "reduction to falldamage".
I just feel it, this is going to mess up our dps. And I mention dps because thats my roll for the last years, and Iv'e been working hard on it.
If the dps and the resistances stays the same, meaning for example groups who now struggle in vCR, but can clear it, will still be able to do that when all this goes live, and try to get their perfected gear I won't complain.
However if dps and thougness change so it's harder, and the groups who barely made vCR before now has no chance. Would make this update pure s***. Since they make something harder, and many who runs around with perfected gear wouldn't have gotten it if they where late to the power creep party CP 810 version 1.0.
Obviously I'm jumping to conclusions but this worries me more than make me happy.

I do dungeons, trials and PvP and I don't go for the meta now. And they did say the content you can do now you will still be able to do with the changes.
What this WILL do is allow for a 'free' CP respec moving forward.
If you're the type of player that does PvE AND PvP on the one character, this system will ensure that you can 'respec' your CP anytime out of combat for 'free'
This actually isn't a bad system at all when you think about it.
I personally prefer it.

Yes the Meta is a thing but this game makes it very easy to ignore it if you choose to and your build would have to be outright horrible to make this un true.
Maybe the closest thing to an exception are solo arenas where not all characters can be successful but that's legit les than 1% of this games content.
