Last year Rich said (IIRC) that they don't plan to add more slots in the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't mind new chapter size if it priced correctly (but it is not). Definietely not woth to be calling the chapter, it should be a part of eso+ as (we will have 4 dlcs this year without a chapter because of performance) or it should cut its price in half. Selling it as full chapter is just a scam and only encourage zos to sell us less for more

Wait, this is even before the main story line or am I am wrong?
Let's be extremely precise in our use of terms.

How this chapter can be more expensive than Summerset was is just beyond my comprehension.

They probably meant "about 800 years", not exactly 800?

its closer to 720 or 730 years, factoring in that ESO runs in real time x4, so when the game was in beta, it was way closer to 800 years

It has a lot of stuff, the different champion system, morpholith pet, companions, whole new areas and story and dungeons/trial to start. The areas may be the same as TES4 but they have had to be built again and reimagined in a different time. It's definitely not nothing.

    No, that's incorrect.

The first two are base game updates. You get them regardless if you buy the chapter or not. The dungeons aren't the chapter either, they're a separate item.

If you buy the chapter, you get companions, a new zone and a trial. That's it. Companions will be useless to a LOT of players. So a questing zone and a trial. For £30. Absolute joke.

New zone, trial, companions, NEW STORY,new crafting and new items that you would otherwise need to buy. Its a bit underwhelming but it still offers stuff we also dont know what else will be included. Till then hold off and stop complaining.

that was standard with dlc. not chapters.
Morrowind added two things. a new system and a class
Summerset added two new skill lines, one crafting based, one with active skills.
Elswere only added a new class
Greymore added a mobile game. two passive skill lines. you know what else got passive skill lines? dark brotherhood and thieves guild dlc. dlc being the key word.
Blackwood gets..companions that you cant use for content a large portion of the playerbase plays. and the usual dlc stuff.

Lets look at Dlc now. earlier ones. Imperial city: two new dungeons,a new currency system,a new pvp zone, bosses, sets, crafting sets, vaults and I can go on.
    Wrothgar: Story,Bosses,Crafting sets,Treasure Hunts,The first solo arena.
Dark Brotherhood and Thieves guild: crafting sets(all Dlc gets this) Zone Story,New bosses, new passive skillines and mechanics
Clockworkcity: new mechanics, story, crafting sets, trial, sets. The new mechanic being a godsend of one. still should of been free.
Murkmire: ok things are slowing down now. treasure hunts. story. sets. crafted sets. a new arena trial.
The Reach: New Solo arena. Story. New Mythics, New sets.

Stuff has been becoming less and less as time goes on.
We are getting less and paying more. Greymore was when it was so damn noticeable that it was almost impossible for a lot of people to ignore. Blackwood is when the bar got set so low it disappeared into the void.

Very underwhelmed by the content shown. Maybe it's just me, who has no interest in dirty Argonian culture and petty Imperials.

One could almost call it audacity, that so little is sold for 30 dollars instead of 20 or so.
I am more interested in the combat and game changes we will (hopefully) see during the year.

Dont worry they will add something OP like malacath or pale order to the chapter so you have to buy it if you dont want to be super handicapped in pve and pvp

Just wait for the inevitable sale. Worst that can happen is to miss some early bird bait. (Best that can happen is someone else releases something good with proper service.)

When Elsweyr came out, one of the things that was mentioned as advantage of the year long story was that the artists didn’t have to change housing architectural and furnishing styles. With Elsweyr there was only one. What was released with the chapter was the only furnishings even for DLC achievement furnishings. Then this year the chapter was released with two furnishing styles and a third one with the DLC.

It seems we will have at least two styles of furnishings for the Blackwood chapter and maybe a Deadlands style for the DLC.So something shifted. I’m into housing so that will likely be the determining factor in buying this “chapter” at release but I’m curious if they realized the Elsweyr strategy was a mistake and have abandoned it or if we can expect to see multiple furnishing styles each year going forward or is it going to be year long story dependent I.e. Hammerfell has only one style all year long.

Chapters have always been a story DLC with a random extra feature tacked on to justify selling it separately to subscribers. That's why there was so much anger from subscribers when Morrowind was first announced. That's expected at this point, the only question is whether that story DLC + feature is worth the price for you.

I liked this area in Oblivion and I'm curious about how it will be different in ESO and I'm curious about the storyline too, although mainly because I'm hoping they can't seriously be doing an exact copy of Oblivion's story so I'm wondering how it will be different. But I'm not that interested in the companion idea. So I don't think it's worth £33, I'd probably be willing to pay about 1/2 that.

I want to see how the welwa mount looks in game and what kind of prices are available elsewhere online before I decide. But I also don't want to get it before March since that allows you to skip the flaming bear pet, so I've got plenty of time to make up my mind. And if it's not worth pre-ordering then it'll be discounted sooner or later.

Just because you're a mer, you don't necessarily despise Argonians! A colleague of mine from Vos actually really likes Argonians so much - he owns a whole dozen of them.
