4.5Million AP in 20 hours... wow

Wow I am in awe!
We have players on the Leaderboard in Blackreach (PC EU) at 4.5 Million AP after only 20 hrs with the start of the new campaign.
The level of skill must be astronomic?

Apparently the top dude got 500K AP in the first hour of the campaign.
How does he do it?

This may get edited for explaining exploiting.

its called boosting. farming your friends near an empty keep and get defense ticks. you can get upwards of 1 million AP / hr using this strategy.

worth mentioning people have gotten banned for this, and its not allowed. i dont explain the exploit in full but the gist of it is farming your own friends over and over.

Not allowed, and its a risk you yourself are taking when cheating the leaderboards. i would not recommend it

Well there is another step I forgot to mention. Have about 12 friends on an enemy alliance die at the Keep so you get a defense tick.

I also sometimes see players with unnatural amount of ap and have heard rumors that is what they do. I can't imagine why on earth anyone would need to "farm" ap. What will they do with it? I have 30m ap on just one toon i'm currently playing and i play 18 toons. I have nothing to spend it on, man. Same with transmute crystals, they just multiply on their own it seems.

I still have a bomber with 1hr of pelinal's bonus left over from last Mid-Year Mayhem. (I don't bomb much, lol) Now that we have a date set for a new buff... use what you have and as others say boosting is possible.

Dont go to cyro expecting balenced and fair game play - if you want to go for emp the normal way hats off to you for trying but you wont succseed unless you really put the hours and get lucky.
Most emps are brought or expoilted, either by taking it in a dead campain after an event or by exploiting ap ticks.

Twice grand overlord here and not once emp becuase i cant put the time in to do it properly, and i've turned my nose up at explioting it.

This is the disappointing part. ZOS created a set of rules with potential punishments but they are unable/unwilling to enforce those rules. So the rules then only apply to those that choose to follow them. Break the rules and reap the rewards. Punishment? Maybe 1 out of 1000 people if enough people raise enough of a fuss.

ZOS, if you're not able to enforce your rules across the board, don't create those rules or adjust the system so they can't be abused or are more easily enforced. Punishing those that follow the rules by not punishing those that break them sends a poor message over time and only makes the issue worse.

I wouldn't say it's approved. The offender has to really go over the top with exploiting and bragging about it before ZOS steps in.

If it was allowed, I would do it just to unlock Legate Black and then retire forever. That's literally the only reason I ever go get AP, and it's so many years off that I can't be arsed to really work on it because it's so unfun. But can't imagine anyone doing that who actually *likes* pvp.

Boosting is typically done to support someone who is pushing for Emperor. Since all the 7 day campaigns are gone, it takes an awful lot of AP to make sure than you are the guy on top of the leaderboard when your faction finally pushes around the emp ring...and for people who aren't confident in their PVP skill, it's pretty tempting to make that AP by cheating instead of fighting enemies, chasing ticks, and repairing walls.

    So true

would be nice though to get a fresh official response @ZOS_GinaBruno

Is there any official stance on players not playing PvP the way it was intended? I mean, those that are grossly over-boosting for in-game gold, profit, and not wanting some fairplay?

Same people and guilds have been doing it for years, so I was curious if anything changed. Thank you.

You can still get empress legit. I have done it quite a few times.

Though, I will admit that boosting has become more rampant and out of control lately. Certain people not even hiding it.

This is true. When two or three people have 14 mil+ AP while the next 10 closest on the leader-board range from 4-5 mil AP it's easy to tell who is is boosting. Yet Zos has turned a blind eye to the practice and it's been the same few people doing it for years on PS4.

People have reported them yet nothing happens. You can literally do almost anything in consoles as there are no admins to monitor what goes on.

I've reported many people for using macros, bots and abuses and none of them got banned. Still same people using macros, same bots farming (I reported one bot 60 days straight, nothing) etc.

I think that event was a little different than what these guys are talking about. The bleakers party didn't really involve pvp. It was two (three?) factions flipping it back and forth. Walking upstairs or outside while the other team stood on flags Rinse/Repeat.

This type of boosting usually sees the boostie's buddies die on an out of the way resource or outpost. Any official comment I've seen on the topic has been that they can't prevent people from RPing as potatoes, or something along those lines.

I suppose the Faction Locked campaign was meant to address this type of thing, but I seriously doubt it has.

Not sure it still happens but when I was running with a serious PvP guild it was common for some guilds to refuse to help take keeps until someone from their guild was in lead. One or two would actually sabotage the attempt to have someone become emperor outside their guild.
Sometimes they would promise hey let our guy get it then he will drop and we will help you guy. Didn't always work that way though.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

There are legit ways of starting a campaign with lots of AP: you collect every single quest before the campaign ticks, you have a group ready with the list of the easiest campaign board and keep and resource cap to rotate you through after your first turn in. You turn them in at exactly the appropriate times, with the delve AP buff every half hour and you'll have a hefty start. Then you repair every keep including useless postern platforms, still getting AP buff every half hour. Then you get your group to coordinate keep takes with other guilds and someone competent leads the PuGs so you maximise every tick. You need to stay on for a whole day, minimum.

I am not saying dubious farming/boosting isn't happening. But you can start about 1-1.5 mil ahead if you play cleverly for the first 12 hours.

Oh and people did get suspended for setting up AP farming at RSS across faction. They called it 'roleplaying'. AFAIK no one was perma-banned but it was acted on on PCNA under Wroebel and Wheeler despite some of the culprits being 'celebs'....they disappeared for quite a while.

Getting 500k per hour is possible as bomblade during primetime, just need some luck with dc/bleakers
4,5m in 20h is questionable. Cant get nowhere near 500k in the morning till the afternoon. And thats not counting off hours, if he did go to sleep.

But who [snip] cares. Its not as if emp title has been a joke for years.

And yes there were people suspended for roleplaying war in the past even on pc eu.

When I played on ps4 EU it was mostly to boost guildies for emperor and its achievement or to rank up and become 5 star fast.

On topic: I used to be an officer one of the bigger guilds who most of the time boosted several guildies to emperor each campaign and saw every
exploit. 500k without midyear mayhem means they are exploiting, 200k in an hour isn't impossible but everything have to be going smooth. The most common exploit is the defense tick where you are alone and some friends come in on another alliance and gives you free defense tick and being alone it can give you aaa lot or taking resources over and over again with some friends on another alliance taking them back.

But there is no reason to exploit, just imagine how mind numbingly boring it is and you can make so much damn AP with a good Crown and a good group.

4.5 mil in 20 hours!? Sounds like AP boosting to me, I've heard stories about people getting 100k+ def ticks at empty castles by having friends or organised guilds on another faction initiate a fight on keep grounds. Wouldn't be surprised if a similar method was used to hit that amount of AP in that short amount of time.
