Resistance Caps

Can someone point me to the current day resistance caps for crit, physical and magic? Old data says 32K for the last two. I cannot find crit and don’t know if this is outdated.

If you know what the caps are for things like penetration please feel free to post them too. Thanks

There isn't a hard cap on any of them. No point in stacking resists beyond 32k for PVE, or Penetration beyond 18.2k for PVE. I honestly don't remember crit resist calculation off the top of my head. I believe more is better as long as you are PVPing though. I just use divines though tbh.

The resistance hard cap is ~33k, but it's calculated after penetration so 33k + <enemy penetration> is the effective cap in PvP.

Crit resistance is similar, there's no actual cap but you can't reduce crit damage below base damage. So (<enemy crit damage>-100)*66 is the limit depending on who you're fighting.

So roughly 3300 would be the effective maximum in PVP more or less?

I use divines and infused in PVP and have since launch. From CP and monster sets I can still get to about 2900 fairly easily.

If they had just the base multiplier of 150%, yeah. Nightblades in CP can easily have over 200% though.

Thanks! I think in my bazillion hours on this game about 6 of them were on a NB. I didn’t know that was a thing. I appreciate the info.

Last question ... theoretically if someone were to get to 5000 crit resist it’s going to be nearly impossible for someone to crit them, right?

I'd say in practice, extremely rare in no CP, and less than likely in CP unless you're against a nightblade, templar, or someone with a weird build.

One thing worth pointing out as I know you have been away for a while, there are a lot of stamina proc builds running around using the mythic item, Malacaths Band of Brutality, which means they cannot crit. Combined with the increases to base crit resist, stacking impen or CP into crit resist is not nearly as important as it used to be. I have run 7 impen pretty much since launch, and now I dont run a single piece of it.

The resistance calculation at max level is every 660 resistance = 1% mitigation.

33,000 = 50% damage mitigation which is the effective resistance cap. You can go over this cap, but it'll only help against foes using penetration and resistance lowering attacks.
