Psijic skills. Am I missing something?

Greetings all,
I'm an altoholic that enjoys many different classes and this morning as I was perusing my roster I noticed that while I have opened the Psijic skill line on a couple of char's, I only have one that
really uses any of the skills & that's primarily time stop or imbue weapon? Do you consider it worth it to open all the Psijic skills, given what a grind it is? I've considered rolling a new casual rp toon that would be more of a Psijic character & was wondering if any of you have a character like that? What class did you pair with it and/or weapons do you use? It would just be a character for funsies, not interested in meta or endgame. Have a great day, Tamrielians!

I used the ulti before for the minor protection, but since the nerf, dont think is worth it anymore. Channeled acceleration is used in many builds (aoe, magicka), i use it when im farming materials or questing(esp goid to run inside dungeons). Time stop is for my templar tank, imbue weps for mag dd. Mend spirit i used back in time on my sorc tomb healer in vSS

I only want the Psijic skills for the passive shield when blocking.

I am also trying to figure out how to use time stop since my Templar tank needs a CC but so far its not feeling right in my hands.

Maybe I will make a mage character with only Psijic, Mage's Guild, and weapons skills one day. But that's the only other way I'll use Psijic skills.

Even ignoring the skill line Psijic is worth doing to point one can use Psijic portals because those sometimes drop pretty good loot. Unfortunately after that Augur starts nagging if passing by certain locations (even when I've been careful to not start the next batch of time rifts). Finishing the grind most importantly gets rid of Augur for good.

I've yet to find a use for any of the skills on any of my characters. Not that they are horrible but with only 8+2 skill slots, they just don't measure up to what I'm already using. I do level the skills for the portal loot though. I don't really mind the quest as long as I take my time and don't try to rapidly grind it up.

Race against time is great, undo works outside of laggy areas and passively gives you minor protection. Both good things👍 I know a lot of other people who run low recovery and just use meditate. Imbue weapon is very good for making up some delayed burst. Time stop is used a lot in group pvp. I think it's a pretty solid skill line.

I feel as if the skill line served its purpose well offering at least 1 skill for every role. Eg, healing, cc, damage dealing, utility, etc. Almost no one is going to find the entire skill line useful 100% of the time, but most people can slot 1-2 abilities depending on the situation.

One of it's biggest strengths is offering an ultimate with a passive bonus which is obviously also a cheap get out of jail free card, not every class has one. There is support for +10% mag regen, Werewolf for +15% stam regen, mages guild for +2% max mag and mag regen and Fighters guild for +3% weapon damage. Having a cheap ultimate for minor protection fills an obvious gap there.

The biggest though is offering a universal spammable. For stamina, we now have Silver Shards through fighters guild, has the same range, cost and single target damage (but less dps because of Psijic Order passive). The main difference being better single target dps and health sustain vs better aoe dps with Silver Shards. Magicka has nothing. If you didn't have a class spammable worth using, you would be forced to use the destro staff spammable which locks you into that weapon.

I'll confess I don't understand the players who suggest that this skill line is a "grind" when it is very easy to get it done in a day (and by day, I mean 8 hours playtime; 12 hours at most if you don't rush through it) and involves no RNG whatsoever. Bottom line - if you have a character concept that gels well with the flavor of the Order, do it. The "grind" is a myth.

Where it becomes long is if you create a character centered around the Order and organically explore each zone you are sent to. I did that once, and yes, that will take a long time because your character is also doing other quests and exploration along the way. If you do that, you will hit level 50 (or close to) by the time you are done as well as have your Order skills leveled. You can make this work with a number of different character concepts, so pick whatever race/class/weapon combo you want. Some would argue magic focus makes the most sense lore-wise, and you will get more out of the skill line with magicka over stamina, true.

I wanted to make a post about the Psijic grind being actually pretty good too. I'm doing it for the second time in two months (fourth overall) and I have to say it's a great way to level a character and get them to explore the world organically. I wish the Undaunted grind was this nice.

    From my personal experiences...

I haven't found an effective use for Time Stop and its morphs yet, but I imagine they could be handy in PvP situations?

Imbue Weapon seems like pretty high maintenance to keep it running. I'm probably not using it effectively for my play style.

Accelerate > Race Against Time is slotted as my snare breaker since Rapids is too expensive and not as useful to slot now.

Mend Wounds > Symbiosis helped us get through a Vet dungeon that kept clobbering us, so I'd say it has its uses.

Meditate > Deep Thoughts I use often, as my sustain isn't super great, and there are a surprisingly high amount of places you can use it during combat. It's also good for a quick recharge in between dungeon encounters. If you need health over resources, pick Introspection -- I prefer the resources from Deep Thoughts.

Spell Orb combines well with Imbue Weapon, as I understand it, but again that skill didn't really fit my style.

Concentrated Barrier is a passive I very much enjoy having, the only downside is you need to have a Psijic skill slotted -- there are times I would rather toss Undo for something else on my main bar, and have to get creative on my layout. It does not seem to trigger procs that rely on the casting of a shield -- looks like those procs require an active ability to be cast that creates a shield.

It's worth experimenting with if you have time to build it up, and you can always re-spec if it doesn't fit in with your style.

Hm, I enjoy those quests because they take my characters all around the map and all around skyshards...

I have one character out of 60 who finished the quest line. I use none of the skills on anyone who got to the first passive except that first passive - so I can harvest the portals.

The character who finished the quest line uses only the first passive. I just don't find the rest of them worth a slot.

For running characters around the map, and skyshard/wayshrine collection, I'm doing antiquities instead. Far more valuable.

Psijic grind is not at all bad if you sit down and do it and nothing else. But getting back to it after a diversion or a break long enough to forget exactly which rifts are already done is rather annoying.

IMHO, it depends on whether or not there is an achievement worth having.

The only reason I have one character who is maxed vampire was to get the white dye.

Psijic portals are the only thing I was interested in, the rest of the skill line was bland on the one toon I went through it all for.
The Psijic portals ability is where I quit on the rest of my toons, though I found the nagging augur kinda funny most of the time.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

Someone told me that elemental weapon is good to have on a templar, so I went to Summerset to pick it up on my baby magplar but...having to hear the Auger speak again irritated my soul into another dimension, so I dropped the quest lol.

It is a very great skill line. It doesn't happen often that I don't have a skill of it in a build. Idk how it come that so many people here say they don't feel the skills are worth slotting xD

    - Precognition let's you skip CC mechanics when soloing dungeons and is a nice escape tool on troll builds in PvP.
    - Temporal guard is a nice passive damage reduction for classes that don't have access to minor protection (PvP).
    - Time stop is a great CC tool for PvP support characters and in some PvE content like MHK Vykosa. Can also be used by tanks that don't have a magicka CC in their class toolkit.
    - Elemental weapon is the best magicka spammable for a lot of builds (depends on the class, content being played etc.)
    - Channeled acceleration is a great source of minor force for when you don't want to slot Medusa or Barbed trap (too mobile for Barbed trap but fight short enough to justify the cast time of CA).
    - Race against time is the magicka version of Forward momentum, but better. Snare removal and immunity, speed buff and crit buff. A lot if PvP builds use it, even stamina builds.
    - Mend wounds is the only base skill in the whole skill line which I almost never see being used (only niche builds).
    - Meditate is a great sustain tool for some tank and PvP builds.

The Psijic skill lines is one of the best skill lines in the game. Nobody will use all of the skills but they are pretty good and there's something for everyone.

    As a PvE player

Skills I use on my Mag dps main

Precognition (undo morph) I use for soloing content I normally couldn't do alone, such as Crypt of Hearts 2. Sometimes you just want to do something without others around. This helps with that. Works for many of the CC abilities in dungeons.

Time Freeze (time stop morph): i use this anytime I want to crowd control mobs. It's just a very useful skill when you need that sort of thing. Some mobs in dungeons and overland are much easier to deal with under the effects of this spell. For example, the ghosts at the Harrowstorms can be put under this effect and they will stay in place for enough time that you can basically solo a Harrowstorm as long as you're paying attention.

    Elemental weapon (imbue weapon morph):
one of the stronger spammables in the game

Race against time/channeled acceleration (accelerate morph): many, many enemies will slow you down to do their most damaging attacks. You'd be surprised what group content you can do alone with RaT. In group content without Medusa gear? No problem. Channeled is one of the most cost efficient and powerful buffs in the game to your damage. Both these morphs are level 4 for me and which I have morphed depends a lot on what kind of mood I'm in during that time period and thus content I complete. Alone, I prefer RaT. It's my goto. If I decide to do trials, it's channeled.

Symbiosis (mend wounds morph): I use this morph to dish out more healing when I need to whenever I'm queuing as healer as my dps. Allows me to have an extra heal at my disposal without needing a resto bar. Very situational but nice to have

Meditate: I don't really ever use this skill

The time bubble thingy can work great in PVP to slow down a ball group. Every now and again you can trigger a massive VD proc death of a half dozen players if you time freeze them at the right time. It’s also good to spam on broken doorways to bottleneck opponents.

I've never been impressed with the skill line either. This isn't to say the skills can't be effective in the right hands or with the right build. But I've never found much use for them.

Going by comments, I'd say it may not be everything for everyone, but it might have a little bit of something for everyone.
