IMPOSSIBLE STEALTH TACTIC in the ESO

Today, I've failed stealth mission. It's just optional, not actual failure. but.....

I think that stealth action may not work in the ESO level design. or there're NO mechanism for stealth.
(ex. tossing brick to pull enemy attention. sneaking on the cat walk or high ground. crawling beneath the cargo or something.)

Dear ZOS. Have you ever play "Last of us" or "Assassin Creed" or other famous stealth action game?
Do you know what "captain Macmillan" is? Maybe, ZOS doesn't know any of those things.

Don't put the enemy everywhere!! Please NO. (lol)
Don't build unreasonable level design for stealth.

or just don't design "stealth optional".

My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.
I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]
with [1Stam Blade].
But, I'm Tank main player. Recently I'm doing Healer.

Have you ever created a character for stealth? Because from the looks of it, I think not.

Here’s a start: create a khajiit, Particularly a night blade for the Shadowy disguise, Get ‘em to 50/cp160, If you have alt characters, use one of them to get Night terror gear, night mothers embrace or, if you have the Elsweyr expansion, The Vesture of Darloc Brae. Build around those, and you will be so sneaky you’ll be pickin pockets and cracking open safe boxes with your eyes closed. (Metaphorically.)
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

Become a stage 4 vampire and just run. ZOS created content for a game for around 10 years and then introduced one passive that allows you to skip almost all of it...

This, you have gear who let you run while sneaking and other who reduce you detection radius.

    All are crafted or overland
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Actually, this game has a very good stealth mechanic. Sort of similar to Assassin's Creed, except for we can't hide in tall grass.

In ESO I have done quite a few quests that demanded stealth, as actually stealthy. And it is really well done. Hide in barrels, walk backwards, check how patrols walk, find hidden routes, stay out of the light, stay out of the enemies sight radius, etc. Though it is very time-consuming, it does actually work really well once you do it right.

Potions, vampire, or just straight up sneaking and hiding in in the buckets works just fine on non nightblades. I complete sneak missions om my sorc all the time with no trouble. It just takes a little patience.

You want to be super undetctble maxium man?

here's how I do it as a nord

equip the following number of pieces from the following sets

    Night terror: 3
    night mother's embrace: 5
    Vesture of darloc brae: 4

those three combined with their stacking sneak detection reduction makes you into a ninja...it also makes you hit like a wet noodle...

combine with vampire khajiit for maxium effect

If this is in regards to the Thieves or Dark Brotherhood daily quests I have found once I have learned the layouts and paths the only time I have problems is if I try to rush things. Between sneaking, the hiding places and invisibility potion I rarely fail to make it our before my detection count and run timer expire.

This: on a Khajiit with 3*2 meter stealth detection guards tend to not see you, they can even bump into you and push you away.

Now if not an vampire you should replace night mother's embrace with
Night's Silence who is crafted or Shadow Dancer's Raiment who is overland and an magic set.
This let you run at normal speed and the 2 meter more detection is well worth it.

If an magic caracter you still want to be wearing mostly medium armor and have the Dexterity and wind walker passives for cheaper sneak. Stamina potions are also useful here. Yes the dps will suffer but you will only fight the odd npc single so it don't matter.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I guess not, but it's really not that hard to avoid guards with lanterns. In the worst case scenario you'll just need to sit in a bucket for a bit so that the guard can walk past you.
I've done all of those with a dk (night terror+night mother's embrace sets), and it was pretty easy. Even without darloc brae npcs rarely notice you.

Invisibility potions (with major expedition for them fast runs), Night Blade Shadowy Disguise to become invisible, vampire's dark stalker passive for faster sneak speed or as mentioned above (Shadow Dancer's Raiment and Night Silence sets), Stage 4 vampire's unnatural movement passive to run past enemies while being invisible, use tab target to see targeted enemies through walls to time your movement, Khajiit feline ambush passive to reduce detection radius, Night Mother's Embrace/Night Terror/Vesture of Darloc Brae to reduce detection radius, improved sneak medium armor passive to reduce detection radius, and Ring of the Wild Hunt just to be faster out of combat in general.

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Stealth is fine in this game. It's just a matter of practice. When I did heists and sacraments I did not have my stealth geared vampire khajit nightblade yet and consistently got all objectives and optionals in time after learning the maps. I don't like the time limit combined with stealth detecting snails, it feels so artificial annoyance. But it's not impossible at all.

Nigth terror + Night mother + invisibility pots (if you're not NB).
Medium armor passives are not optional to go stealth.

Some thieves/assassins maps are easier than others, but with the correct setup it should be way easier.
Get used to the detection distance, once you have it in mind, you're good to go.

I had trouble with stealth missions on my stamsorc tank in full heavy armor too...
Turns out, if you switch gear (to Darloc Brae + Nights Silence) it's suddenly easy mode.
Still not quite as easy as being a vampire, but it's way better than clanking around in plate mail.
Roguish Stealth Drafts are pretty useful too.
