Mysterious netch disease hits Vvardenfell - inhabitants in shock (well, at least one of them)

So, last night I was exploring the wonderful world of sleep disorders Northeast of Vvardenfell again, when I came across a herd of netch (one bull and 3 calves).



After a few moments, the first calf started to float higher and higher - and suddenly visibly dissolved in mid-air.

Some time later, the next one did the same.



And so did the third.

Horrified, I decided it was time to leave. Fast.

So, any expert on Vvardenfell fauna, netch diseases or Daedric disturbances who can explain this to me?

No, honestly: Is it a new bug? Or has it always been like this? I didn't notice it so far.

It wasn't beamed away, it just dissolved.

My Telvanni mind told me to stay calm and examine the situation (Who knows, maybe the incident is linked to the disappearance of the Dwemer?! Hah! Solving that riddle would bring so much fame to our House!)... but then, my survival instinct was stronger

I thought it might have technical reasons, maybe objects just fade out at a certain height, but then - why do they even begin to float up? What is it for? I mean, other animals don't suddenly dissolve.

On the north shores of Vvardenfell you can also see fish swimming above the water in mid air in a circle at certain fishing spots.

It happened right between Ashurnabitashpi (a Dagon shrine) and Ald Carac, so I'm not sure if the influence is Daedric or Dwemeri.

Netchs are actually the most common creature to awaken from the Dream. Those things are achieving CHIM.

That sounds like they just accidentially placed them a bit too high instead of just below the water surface? I mean, they still move the normal way? What bothers me is that this netch behaviour makes no sense at all

Those baby netch can be harvested for materials. They thought you were going to catch them so they floated away. Unfortunately, at higher altitudes there isn't enough pressure to keep their bodies from falling apart...

That might have been a very special kind of grass. They were getting high in the literal sense. Don't take after those Netch, kids, it won't end well.

Do not forget that a meteorite hangs over the island, which was once thrown by Sheogorath himself.Perhaps this meteorite does not affect the ebb and flow, but animals?

I'm sorry, I have to correct you, but Lie Rock was born of Vivec's Second Aperture and was thrown out of the Pomegranate Banquet by a member of the Sweeps. The Sweep did not take it for the monster that it was and so he did not expect it to fly from his hand and into the heavens. Lie Rock, however, used the confusion to launch his own attack on the city-god, Vivec. The citizenry of Vivec screamed as they saw a shooting star come down out of the sky hole like a toll-road of hell. But Vivec merely raised his hand and froze Lie Rock just above the city and then he pierced the monster with Muatra.

@Syldras, this is a perfectly normal and intentional "mini-event" that you can occasionally see in the wilds of Vvardenfell. There are several others; they are a type of "Easter egg" for those who are paying attention to the wildlife around you (like the baby bear that runs back to mama bear in Wrothgar). The pink baby netch that floats off and gets lost is just super cute.

There are a few other random encounters in the wilds of most zones, but they did a great job in Vvardenfell. One example is that you may find two dunmer mages porting in near each other. If they are from the same house, they are happy and chat with each other. If they are from different Houses, they start a battle. There is also a person who lost his pet netch; and someone who is on the run from a nasty creature etc... they all just add flavour and fun; not everything is about achievements.

In CWC there is an encounter where two factotums are digging a pile of earth. You can engage and fight them, and then keep digging - you find a treasure chest - and there is a similar encounter in Cyrodiil too

Well, I'm not sure... Still might have been an invisible Daedric vortex, or the influence of an unknown Dwemer machine. Guess, we'll have to conduct a few experiments.

Uhm... Those 3 netch floated up and dissolved into little particles. I wouldn't call that cute.

Honestly, I'm not sure if that really was a mini event. I know all others you mention, but this... It's not on this list either:

I know it's shocking to learn this I myself had to have therapy after learning the bitter truth but it's time you learn. Even more disturbing is the fact that we are not real, but that's left for another discussion.
