Hello all. Been playing ESO on and off for about 4 years, but have never really dabbed to much into PVP. I did cyrodiil years ago to get rapid maneuver but that was about it.

Recently during the New Life event my GF and I were leveling some extra characters as fast as we could and we used some battle ground dailies to help with this.

Low level BG's were kind of hit or miss, sometimes fun, sometimes not so fun when we went against a premade or group of 3 running "collections" proc gear. We both enjoyed the slower pace of the sub 50 BG's but this has lead to wanting to try BG's at 50.

I played WOW since vanilla, spent 7 months straight battlegrounds to get high warlord and did arena for much of the game. In SWTOR, I did mostly PVP and I loved my black orc in Warhammer Online (rip). So I am not new to the idea of pvp, but new to how it plays out in ESO.

I currently have a high elf magicka warden I would like to pvp with but my current build gets me globaled. I am running nerien'eth, coldharbours favorite on jewelry and weapons (frost staff front, sword and board back bar) and then 5 pieces of winterborn that I sometimes switch out with Icy Conjuror. I am only interested in 50 battlegrounds, so CP does not factor in.

Needless to say, I get globaled with shields up and rolling hots. DK's jumping on me for 9k damage, and I die before I can get out of a stun. I, however do not seem to be killing anyone at that pace, even when I am left alone spamming a rotation on someone.

So, I know my request may be met with hesitation because what I need is to literally be carried by my gear, I need a cheese easy mode set. Hopefully something that can be crafted or purchased. I seem to have "meh" luck with gear dropping (farming winterborn was not fun).

I think I gravitate towards a set that will keep me alive rather than bursting someone down. For me, frustration in PVP is spending all my time in the lobby waiting to play because I die so often. I want to go out, engage and press some buttons. Right now though its, buffing, engaging, getting stunned then dead. It's simply not fun.

I know much of this is due to my lack of skill, but I dont know if I will hone any skills never getting to test builds (because I die so fast). I also dont know if what is happening to me is common, current meta or if I just really suck that bad (which could be the case...although traditionally in PVP in games I pick it up reasonably well).

My conclusion is that my issues are most likely a combination of everything. Lack of experience/skill, meh build, broken meta. So, what can I make to help me stay alive with a high elf magicka warden.

Thank you in advance.

I'd recommend checking out Dottzgaming. he has a lot of builds and his pvp builds seem to be favored over Alcast. but, they are both solid options.

    Here is @Waffennacht 's build: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/551785/magicka-warden-winterborn-cyromancer

Here is the one I posted as well: https://youtu.be/2tq9D3SiePY

I don't think mine is as strong but I still had fun with it and it doesn't require you to farm a winterborn staff (ugh). The first build is a nord and mine is breton but I think you can adjust mundus to make up for the differences.

You could even run winterborn + vateshran ice staff + backbarred clever alchemist (3F/5B or 4F/6B) + malacath and perhaps a 1 piece monster set of your choice. There are a lot of options but keep in mind warden gets +10% frost damage which is why winterborn is a strong choice and it makes ice staff better than lightning for us imo, all other things being equal.

    Hi Raideen,

I play magden breton and I am currently ranked around #100 in Gray Host. I have 500 CP but can usually hold my own against 810s. Here is some general strategy I recommend.

One bar defense, one bar offense.

Offense bar: decide if you want to be aoe or single target focused. I actually have both options that i switch between. Whatever you choose, you need to use subterranean assault to lower their defense against magicka. Then use your betty, and put Champion Points and Transmute Destruction Staff into Spell Penetration. Spell Pen I find is more powerful than Spell Damage bc so many players stack resistance. Spell Strategist is a great set if you use fire staff. Hit an enemy with a light attack and they become quickly vulnerable to your high damage sequences.

Defense Bar: Ice Staff. Ice Staff is pretty OP on its own. I have Psjijic order abilities which help here as well. I would put the vines skill on your bar (will heal you each time you get hit for 10 seconds which is really nice. I would also put the ice shield where you absorb projectiles. This will make you virtually invincible to arrows and fireballs etc. I go back and forth between the other skills but if you can get the skill that heals another player and pulls you to them it can be super confusing to enemies in battle. Arctic winds scales on health, :(, but the stun morph is pretty great and you can spam this skill in bad situations to remain alive.

Gerenal rules outside of warden play: you need 25k physical and spell resistance to stay alive long in cyrodil. You also need nearly 3k crit resistance or more. I run 25k health and its a little low i think. My spell damage before buffs is only like 1900 on the offensive bar. Again, spell pen has been really strong for me.

Major Disclosure: i run malacaths so i do not run a crit playstyle - i think you can succeed either route. High spell damage and spell pen, or high crit, but obviously your build and set up will change dramatically.

Sets I've used / liked: Malacaths Band of Brutality, Chudan's (allows you to slot one extra tricky skill and remain high resistance all times), Spell Strategist (better with malacths and fire staff), Juggernaught (live saver), Alamexia's Mercy is actually really strong especially if youre playing groups a lot. And then the usuals like Crimson etc.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you all for the help. Been playing on my templar and offensively he is doing well, defensively not so much.

No joke, no hyperbole. I die to Dizzying swing or executioner more than anything. Dizzing swing needs the stun component removed or its damage lowered. It absolutely destroys me, faster than anything. The worst is dragon knights who dragon leap, then hit me 2x with dizzing swing to finish me off. I wish I could press 2 buttons and win.

I'll work towards the stuff you have recommended, just gonna take some time to farm gear and such.

Frankly. I just want a 60k health cheese mode proc set....because that and dizzing swing dragon knights seem to be meta (along with poison bow spammers...so cheese).

OMG dizzying swing is all i die to as well. Juggernaught will help you there i promise. I also try to upgrade everything i got to legendary. I can't bring myself to slot heavy armor because i fear ill lose too much damage. I may try some damage shield skills instead.

If you or anyone here has solved for a counter to the dizzying leaping swinging two handers please please share!

don't wanna die for a while on your magden, these sets may help:
    - eternal vigor
    - plague doctor
    - juggernaut
    - troll king
    - earthgore

look at sets that have a low health trigger (earthgore, juggernaut, draugr heritage) that allow you to get caught off guard but still remain alive...

make sure you have health pots quickslotted...

turtle up and sustain...try to stay close by allies...

I really liked the suggestion of setting up offensive and defensive bars...

sadly these days (particularly if you're solo) you really need to be wearing at least 5 heavy...unless your build has great mobility and you've decided to go all in on medium or light to execute folks...
