Performance Tweaks

Hi guys; I made a quitting thread a bit ago when I was severely frustrated. But I managed to tweak enough things that I no longer have any performance issues (except in Cyro Prime Time Grey Host of course, which is META).

I just wanted to give some tips to others who might be frustrated since it doesn't seem like Customer Support understands (since the usual ideas they give you are just to open ports or do a clean boot, although a clean boot may be a good idea to find processes or programs running in the background slowing your computer enough to the point that it interferes with a high memory use game like ESO).

Anyway the biggest performance enhancement was this: https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php (TCP Booster combined with the "Game Tweaks" Custom Edit for Performance). It might be that I made several other tweaks beforehand but this is what seemed to do the most ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Most of the User INI Settings Tweaks you can find by just Googling (Numframe/Numthread/Numjob whatever, there's already pretty good guides for fixing those) so probably not important to reinvent the wheel on that. I would recommend Votan Adaptive Video Settings (the one that dynamically scales your view range and particles/godrays etc) AND the "Hidden Settings" one by Votan (can't remember exact name but just search "Votan" on your Minion Tool, since we all use Minion for Add-ons) REALLY nice to not have to Relog everytime you need to change your Framerate and the other setting that aren't in the ingame menu but ARE on the INI Tweak "User Settings" Notepad in the file.

Supposedly if you have UPNP set up on your Router you don't need to set up Port Forwarding since it does it automatically for you (or maybe someone can explain this a little better; I am still studying Computers); this is something that you need to enable since it's off by default. But it's important to check this

Process Hacker to bump ESO Priority to "High" and of course Unpark your Cores so the system can utilize all Cores instead of the Microsoft/Windows Limiter that it has by default (plenty of guides on Google). And obviously make sure no programs (including the Launcher) are running at the same time.

I found that my Computer runs best using the default framerate of ESO (100) BUT turning on Vsync without Triple Buffering (just the regular, I have a Hybrid NVIDIA/Intel 60HZ :disappointed: so no adaptive or fast sync for me); usually turn off Vsync in Cyro but that does make you more vulnerable to stuttering.

Flushing DNS Server seemed to help a little bit but it seemed like most of the suggestions Customer Service gave me this patch did not help much (but it's something to try, run CMD Prompt through your Start Menu and type: "Ipconfig/FlushDNS").

For me Addons did not seem to have a negative/positive performance whatsoever, there was just no difference that I could see (including higher memory use ones like the Minimap) even with a completely "Addon Free" game I was still getting Latency and Stuttering.

I think that's most of the stuff I did (there's some other wonky stuff I did over the course of a couple days but this is the main stuff that helped). I dunno if it'll work for you but I do know that I was VERY close to quitting and if any of these solutions help another ESO Player not suffer the same frustration that I was going through; it's worth it.

Went from Latency/Stuttering pretty much every 10 seconds in combat areas (dungeons/overland etc) and the game basically breaking in any kind of PVP to actually being able to play so I hope some of these work for you!

Be very careful with what programs you use, ESO might detect them as trying to cheat. Depending on what they do/affect ofcourse! Also, ask a professional if you do not know what you are doing!

In my opinion you never need outside programs(3rd party software) to optimize something, you just have to check/set-up everything when you install it.

I might go into more detail when I have more time. Just felt I should warn players before using 3rd party software.
