✭✭✭Character... I've gotten 50+ some days by running ransoms on multiple characters.1 -

✭Character. You can run 9 a day with friends always making sure one of you is low level or has no ESO+/DLC and do 90 crystals in fairly short time. You might get a bit sick of wayrest sewers but it's a very fast way to stock up.
Once you pass the thousand limit you can then stock them further by making gear you can re-create for 25 crystals (eg 2 item sets like the masters sets or maelstrom), and filling a chest (or storage alt) with them.
It's far far too easy IMHO to build a stock of thousands of crystals.

I mean it's easy if you aren't actually using them. I've been doing daily RNDs on 5-6 chars like 5 days a week and I'm currently down to like 30 crystals1
