Vampirism by bloodfiends not working?

Magenta_Goblin
Hello. I was biten by a bloodfiend in Bangkorai and received the affliction, but there is no quest start at the vampire shrine nor I see any npc at wayshrine with the quest. I am a daggerfall covenant imperial. I want to know if I am missing something before reporting a possible bug

Yeah ideally there should be the quest npc somewhere possibly around outside the city walls. I'm not sure where he spawns for dc characters. (Ebonheart, for example, he spawns right outside of riften.) He then gives you the quest to go to the shrine.

Edit: go to any wayshrine, according to a guide I found.

Hmmm...should see the quest giver at the Evermore wayshrine. Log off and back on?? Good luck!

It totally depends on the alliance of the character and not where you were bit. My AD NB was bitten in The Rift but I had to go to Reaper's March to find the NPC to direct me to the shrine (also in Reaper's March).

The wayshrine thing isn't how it works anymore. You have to find the right spot for your alliance.

Seems that's only true for vamp bite. I got my last ww bite only some weeks ago on an AD character in The Rift and I could get the quest and enter the solo instance there.

All my vamps are AD and were bitten in Reaper's march, so I can't tell.

It might not even be true for Vamp anymore. I only have one vampire and she got bitten before Greymoor. I just know that I looked and looked in Riften and could not find the NPC. As soon as I tried the AD location, there he was.

It is still the same as it has always been. If you get bit by a bloodfiend, as stated above, you need to go to the main city of the last zone, of your alliance, if AD, it's in Rawl'kha, Evermore for DC, Riften for EP. There is a blue marker for an npc that you need to talk to that will then guide you to the vampire shrine for the quest. If you get a bite from a player, you can go to any alliance shrine, but the alliance restriction, for whatever reason, remains the same for bloodfiend infections.

The quests might be able to be started from any faction now, but you might have to go to your faction to find the npc that tells you you're infected and to go start the quest or get cured.

Not sure about vampires, but for werewolf there is a possible glitch. You finish the quest and are officially a werewolf, but the npc Thoreki doesn't think you are. She'll keep telling you to go to the shrine and talk to the packmaster. You can fix it; go to the prelate in the mages' guild and ask to be cured, but be careful to pick Sanies Lupinus, and NOT lycanthropy if you want to stay a werewolf.

Yeah, bites via bloodfiend activates the quest in the town, not the shrine. Was supposed to be a shock thing that you were bitten and now suffering from the symptoms of the disease.

I know I got a werewolf bite 5 years ago on accident and when I met the lady in town it was a tad bit confusing lol. Cured myself of lycanthropy before it progressed and became a vampire shortly after.

Thanks all! I found the vamp npc in Evermore. I didn't know about this since it is the first time I have been afflicted this way.

@Mj_Xcv , I found this out a while back on complete accident.

I think the key factor is you have to port out and port back in to the same wayshrine for the NPC to appear. I happened to land at that wayshrine (just outside of Evermore) and the Quest marker appeared with the NPC in tow. Having already cleared the zone, I knew there was no way in hell I'd missed a questgiver just outside of the main city.

I spoke with him, and then I realized I had been bitten without having known.

So, after the bloodfiend attack, a port out/port in to the main city wayshrine for your Alliance's final zone is probably how it triggers. The NPC will then direct you to your options from there.

Glad you got it sorted out. Hopefully this helps someone else along the way!
