Nvidia drivers causing problems?

I downloaded the new nvidia drivers to play cyberpunk. I went to play eso and the load screens became very long. I’ve never had them this long. When I finally get in game textures take longer load. Anyone else experience this?

It might have automatically updated your settings to higher settings than what you had, therefore hitting performance, since the "recommended" settings are much higher than what the game can actually run at.

I vaguely recall something about having to bake the textures and such after a big update being part of the reason for longer than normal loading screens. Might be something like that, where once it's done the first time it will load faster the second time.

Graphic drivers should not really affect load time.
    Probably something with the game.
Writing this while in an infinite loading screen loading an character at Khenarthi's roost in the middle of the night.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Since you upgrade the driver, it is most likely spending time recompiling all the shaders. Which will affect your load time and everytime a new shader is needed.

NVIDIA drivers are actually problematic with ESO. I almost never update them. Seriously, I'm running drivers from six months ago. Don't update them.

In your situation OP..... Pick the game you want to play most. ESO isn't going to play nice with the "latest greatest" NVIDIA drivers.

I run only NVIDIA GPUs. And yes, they are not particularly forgiving when it comes to older games.

I'm running the drivers (457.51) that was released on December 2nd, the one that added support for 3060Ti. Zero performance issues in ESO after that. Not a single crash. And I do a fair amount of end game content (vet dlc trials). No pvp tho.
Only long loading screen I get is the "requesting character load" one. After that, pretty quick loading screens.

I haven't installed the cyberpunk driver update tho.

Also running the latest Nvidia drivers (again due to Cyberpunk) and have not noticed any changes in ESO from them, but I do run a costom setting not a ZOS preset!

Did get a,not unusual, change in audio device - SB Zx with 5.1 speakers to the main monitors using the nvdia HDAudio driver - but that seems to be a Win10 issue that happens with the driver update

PS Drivers only - none of the 'bloatware'...

If you use GeForce Experience (or whatever it's called), make sure you have its optimize settings turned off. If you updated your driver, it may have automatically "optimized" your game and therefore changed your graphics settings.
Change your graphics settings back to what works for you and turn off GeForce Experience's optimize feature.

I use GeForce Experience to keep my driver totally up to date (last update Dec 9) but have the automatic game optimization feature they offer turned off. I've not had any problems.

If I remember right, last time I updated Nvidia drivers I installed the studio driver instead of game ready one because stability over performance and I use my desktop to do my work. (That was about year ago. I'd probably update more if Nvidia would not push their annoying home-phoning bloatware with drivers.) Anyway, no stability issues.

To be fair though, I have a Ryzen 2700X CPU with a Radeon Vega 64 GPU and the game is rock solid... B)

The standard rule for updating drivers is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Clearly an update might sometimes be justified because it fixes a certain problem or allows a new title to be run but otherwise if you have drivers that run everything smoothly then stick to them.

As for Cyberpunk, that was the latest in a long series of games that were going to kill ESO off according to the over-hyped expectations of their fans. Like the others before it, Cyberpunk is failing uttterly to do so and within only a week or so of it launching Sony are issuing refunds.

My PC goes catatonic playing ESO every few hours.
I have an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super video card.
I changed a few Nvidia settings - PC continues to go catatonic.
I'm having my PC diagnosed for hardware problems.
If nothing can be found then I'm rolling back the latest Nvidia driver and modifying ESO graphic settings.
I'll post how the problem was resolved (if it gets resolved).

PC EU using GTX 1660 Ti with driver version 460.79 here. System is rock solid while playing ESO, but I never do trials and only some limited PvP. Mostly solo play and group dungeons.

Having read here that Nvidia drivers can cause problems with ESO, I haven’t updated mine for ages. The game is still crashing multiple times per day.

Never had any issues with nvidia drivers, no matter which version... GeForce Experience on the other hand is another issue.

Currently I am running the nvidia driver version released for the Cyberpunk release.

I update the nVidia drivers for my 1080 Ti with every WHQL release, and I've not had any changes or new issues with the video performance of ESO. I do not install/use GeForce Experience, and I do not install/use nVidia's HD Audio. It is a driver install only, and I use DDU before every driver update with Windows Automatic Driver Update turned off.

The only issues I have are with the game itself, and are not related to the drivers for my video card.
