Gamma/Brightness in this game.

Hey.

First of all, im in many ways visually impaired and one of the least severe of those is sensitivity to brightness, but it is major in games like this and sometimes its just untolerable. Requires constant adjustments.... One time in Stonefalls, the day is so bright that it hurts my eye andin time makes my vision go blurry. I need to make it darker so i adjust the slider which is, allready way too dark for the darker areas... Then i go to another region or in a delve and its too dark and Almalexias lantern is no help due too dark setting so i adjust, then i finish i need to adjust again to stop that brightness.. Nights are okay when its darker since they are mostly too bright on "Recommended setting".

Suffice to say adjustments go on and the list is extensive..

One major reason for this is, that when the sun is really shining in places like Auridon, Western Skyrim, Stonefalls and many other places, the outside areas are always too bright and the colors get washed out which in addition to it hurting my eyes, makes everything look odd.. Sunny days in reality dont seem to wash colors away, they bring everything to life.

My opinion on this is, that the weather patterns and the brightness, saturation, contrast and settings like that should be adjusted all around the game to make it more constant and natural..

Though one COULD say, that when Bethesda is somehow involved, there is always need to get a weather mod and lightniung mod to make everything look natural.. Fallout Green/Orange tint anyone? Dull colored Skyrim with too much brightness... Basically its a feature ;D

What video card and monitor are you running?

I set the gamma one click brighter than the game suggests because it help me see a tiny bit better in what are mostly dark dungeons, and I do not get washed out colors or anything in brighter areas unless I pan around and look at the sun in the sky or something like that.

This is common assumption very often. People who have various problems with their eyes are very careful with monoitor settings and one common thing to do with sensitivity to bright lights is to lower the overall brightness, slightly add more contrast to help see things better and sometimes get more color in general due retinal problems. ESO is only game that seems to fight against these settings and require constant adjustment of its owb setting to compensate between bright days oytdoors and other weather patterns that lessen the brightness, not to mention indoor areas.

There is also some kind of bug with gamma. I had an issue where the gamma setting was multiplied one on character, but not the rest. Everything looked like the contrast was super boosted on that one character.

This i have noticed as well... One character everything is fine, but then i log another and it may be completely different and the contrast seems way off which makes the washed out impression on my eye due sensitivity to brighter areas so that extra contrast may be one to blame.

But in all the time i played since launch, there is one weather pattern that is common in Stonefalls and Auridon, but also occurs elsewher on occasion where it feels like sun IS shining very bright BUT at the same time sky is not clear blue but more like hazed pale very light blue and it also makes everything very bright but colorless and the shadows are like the sun is right on top of everything. This weather is most problematic.

I also have to change brightness based on the zone and sometimes dungeon. Summerset is always too bright, snowy areas are too bright (yes snowblindness is realistic but no thanks).

Getting a light-producing weapon with a decent color helps in dungeons.

If it’s on console they updated the settings you have to change and if it’s on pc I’d recommend a BenQ monitor
