ZeniMax, it's been 3 years since the release of the first chapter and we are going to a 5th chapter now. Why can't we be able to choose our tutorial quests? It sucks to always start in the most recent chapter.

And honestly, could there be something to tell new players to start doing the main questline? It is so confusing when you're involved in a chapter's storyline and references to the Planemeld are there but you never played the main story so you don't know what it means, you just know that it happened. Take a look at Elsweyr chapter, for example, you meet Cadwell BEFORE you go to Coldharbour. What are you doing ZeniMax???

Anyways, I would just like to ask for us to be able to choose our starting location with this next chapter update.

I agree, this would be a great addition.

It would be extremely helpful for new players who currently get chucked in right in the middle of a storyline (not just the overall story but the 'year of X' for whichever chapter they buy, since they're forced to start on the new map before the dungeons which act as an introduction.

I've encountered several people who don't even realise the game has any kind of overarching story or continuity - as far as they can tell each map is a stand-alone isolated series of events with no connection to any other, because that's been their experience. They start off playing the latest chapter, then at some point they pick up a quest that takes them to another chapter or DLC, maybe they do some base game maps too but probably not in any kind of order. Even if they find the main quest it appears to be another stand-alone storyline unless you complete it and your alliance story in full and get to the end of the main story where it all comes together. And if you don't do those things together it looks like whichever one you do first just ends, because you can't continue without doing both.

Of course the game can be played that way, but I think you lose a lot by not seeing how events tie into each other and getting the proper introductions to characters, places and plot lines.

On top of all that it would be useful for existing players too. I'd love to be able to choose the most appropriate starting point for the character I'm creating, and honestly sometimes I'd just like to be able to play these intros again sometimes. I only did the Summerset one once and I've not done the Greymoor one yet. It seems a waste to have all these tutorials and intro stories and then they get so little use.

Oh god, yes please!!! We should be able to start the game as it was supposed to, and run through it in the right order. Not to mention the last tutorial with the follower is damn annoying(understatement). If I had gotten that tutorial while new to the game, I would have quit!

If they’re going to add this (and I hope they are), add the option to choose main theme music as well. I just hate the current one.

I would rater make an stand alone tutorial and rater have the start being the finale of the prologue quest.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Yeah, let us choose our tutorial, let us choose where we start our adventure if we want to skip the tutorial aswell. We would have the choice to start in 2 different areas of Summerset, 2 different areas of Morrowind, High Rock, Skyrim, Elsweyr or Cyrodiil.
So the Dark Elves have weird alien architecture, where people live in mushroom towers and the shell of a giant crab, but the High Elves, the pinnacle of technology, the most magically advanced race in Tamriel, are still stuck in slightly pretty, fairly tall stone buildings? Not even a hint of a glass city? Are stainless glass windows really enough to claim that a city is made of glass?

It's also a part of a paid chapter we can't return to, it defo should be an option to run a new character through the one of your liking.

While they're at it, ability to revisit different tutorials to get the skill point :D

    Totally on board with this!

It would also be cool to be able to choose different selection screens for your characters (base game or chapter specific) as it got kinda boring to look at the same Western Skyrim background for all my characters from different Alliances this year. But I guess they won't go for it for marketing reasons - need a constant reminder to everyone about the newest chapter.

Oh yeah, I like that idea. It would be cool to incorporate the tutorials into the start of each chapter.

starting new players in the latest chapter is a mistake.
a friend of mine recently begun playing & was confused because of this.
not to mention, you're starting players smack dab in the middle of some storylines.
they can make their way to the new chapter. no need to force their hand.

It's all about showing off the latest assets but I agree that everyone should have the choice and that ZOS should implement a story guide so then players aren't lost. Put the RPG back in mmorpg

At the very least there should be some roadsigns toward the main quest. Story journal, in game mail, whatever, but something! One caveat - please no more annoying NPCs that wont leave you the hell alone.

Even revert back to alliance starter zone, with NPCs (clearly marked) that can transport you to any of the dlc starter zones you want. Put a big old warning that makes the player know that they are going to be hoping into a later part of the story so they know what the risks are. But give them the choice.

Honestly, nothing about it makes sense. And if you do start in say, VVardenfell, you're halfway through the game before you get properly introduced to the mages/fighters guild questlines, the main quest etc.

And once you get there, there's nothing more irritating than having the prophet show up 30 seconds after you leave the Harborage and tell you he's figured something out. Again. His appearance was supposed to be stretched out so you would only see him every 5 levels or so, but if you land in Stonefalls at level 40 or whatever, it's just constant solo quests, back to back, rescuing people that are currently standing outside the town with their own quests!

Not only that, but many years ago, when I first heard and saw the PlaneMeld Anchor over the walls of Vulken Guard, I couldn't believe it. It was amazing.... an organic event that just seemed so epic. And then when my wife started playing, she ended up in Summerset, talking to Razum-Dar who made constant references about your adventures together that made no sense to her at all.

The whole sense of grandiose adventure, saving the world, restoring your soul etc. just wasn't there. She still had her soul and Razum-Dar was just some rando NPC that she didn't know she was supposed to care about.

    Yes.

    It's time.

In an RPG that is very light on choice and consequence for the genre, let us at least choose our character starts.

    YES. PLEASE.

new players also should start in original tutorial for continuity's sakes. once you have passed it at least once - then you get an option to chose other tutorials or skip.

    Y E S!

I'm pulling this quick concept back out:
    wm5XJQ8.png

Once you click 'Create character,' it pops up this window and lets you select the starting zone. And for bonus monetization fun, we can include a "Buy now!" button on anything a given person doesn't have!

Please consider this. You've recorded the dialogue, you've paid the voice actors to do it, so please let us have these back!

Now I understand the major issue (that has been told to us) is that the newer tutorials do a better job of explaining game mechanics like light/heavy attacks and interrupts (which they do). Still, the storylines are all overlapping oddly, which is especially egregious in the Greymoor chapter since the tutorial sets up plot, and established characters (and soon any characters created after June of next year) won't be able to do it. Ditto the Morrowind chapter for having a quest that introduced characters we see in a side storyline.

Yes please!!!! And add that 1 extra tutorial skill point for base game tutorial in case you haven't done other tutorials.

I think they should always default the player to the original starting tutorial, and then not unlock the wayshrine into a new zone until you actually travel to the new zone. That travel point can then have you go through the new tutorial for that particular chapter. Each tutorial completed could also have a skill point in it. Doing it this way, ensures that new players are able to start out on the right path and then given the choice to leave that path and also provides incentive for existing players to go through every tutorial for the bonus skill point. The Greymoor tutorial creates a much more engaging start to the story than having some random character run up to the player. If they did it this way, they could also make the new zone tutorials more advanced, teaching the new zone specific mechanics that every player will want to be aware of.
