Consider adjusting Jewelry Material Refinement please.

I know this has been brought up before, but the manner in which jewelry is upgraded compared to the other equipment slots is exceedingly painful. I am bringing this up today because I just refined a little over 700 platinum dust, an outcome of generous surveys from the undaunted event, and it yield 1 chromium grain.... That is nightmarish. I think it's 3 plates for a 100% upgrade, and 1 plate is 10 grains, so with a yield like that a person would need 21,000 platinum dust. Toss us a bone please.

Are you doing your jewelry crafting writ dailies, too, @Castian?

Or, are you solely relying on Event drops?

Sometimes RNG bites us ... but that doesn't mean a change to the drop mechanics is needed/warranted.

Every platinum dust stack of 10 should have a 5% chance to yield a Chromium grain so on average, 700 platinum dust should have yielded you 3-4 Chromium grains, which is higher than your unlucky yield but still pitiful consider it's still Chromium grains we're talking about, not the platings, of which you need 4 of them to have 100% chance to upgrade.

No wonder Chromium Plating prices are jacked so high

    I agree with OP.

Been playing the game for six months now. Have 14 toons doing daily crafting writs. One Grandmaster crafter fully maxed across all crafting skills who processes all my raw mats. Never sold any mats either.

So, with 8 Epic mats needed to upgrade the wood, Blacksmith, Clothing items, and only 4 Epic mats needed to upgrade Jewelry pieces, I now have:

~75+ Gold Light/Medium armor pieces with 30+ pieces of Dreugh Wax on hand
~30+ Gold Blacksmith weapons/armor pieces with 70+ pieces of Tempering materal on hand
~25+ Gold Bows/Staves with 40+ pieces of Rosin on hand

... and 3 Gold pieces of Jewelry with 1 piece of Chromium Plating on Hand

I have over 400 pieces apiece of Purple mats for wood, blacksmith, and clothing, yet I have only 1 purple jewelry piece. Even then, I needed to buy multiple purple mats just to get a couple of my toons to full purple jewelry. I've never bought any other kind of mat, period.

While I share the same desire as the OP, my post isn't a rant on the inequity.

I'm just saying, with all things being as equal as can be with how I farm, the ratio of usable Gold Jewelry mats to time spent/amount of nodes farm is not on par with the other three crafting types.

I personally would like to see all four crafting types provide similar results for the same level of effort (RNG of course coming into play.)

Zos already adjusted the requirements for upgrading jewelry.

Considering their stated intent is they want it to take notably more effort to upgrade jewelry compared to the other crafting. In other words, Zos specifically wants us to go through what OP is dealing with so it would probably require a very differnt argument to get them to change their minds.

As @Taleof2Cities indicated, do crafting writs on multiple characters.

Fair enough. If this is ZOS' intent, so be it. Any argument would be subjective desire on a person's part, so nothing tangible to really stand on. That's why I said my post wasn't a rant, just my personal desire ... I'm sure there are people out there who like it just like it is, and their desire is just as valid as my own.

I am curious to why they wish a certain type of your gear to be harder to upgrade than others but, like I said, haven't been here long.

The Jewelry Extraction passive is also important.

I have Grand Master Crafter on my main toon, with every crafting skill maxed and all passives as well. Definitely helps, but as mentioned, the time to farm/decon/craft writ/etc. vs. number of Epic mats received is not equatable between Jewelry and the other crafting skills.

That said, if what @idk says is true, ZOS intentionally wants it this way. I am curious to their reasoning, but it explains the disparity.

I agree that the extraction rate is woefully low and unfortunately that's by design.

With the new set collection mechanic I dont feel like there's any need for jewellery crafting to be different to other crafting skill lines any more. Even though I don't really have any need to improve jewellery to Gold I'd still support the temper extraction rates being improved.

I’ve got 4 toons and made sure to upgrade jewelry to lv50 ASAP just for daily writs. That also means upgrading the engraver perk to max so you are doing the highest quality sorts with the chance at more grains/platings to drop. From 4 characters doing this plus gathering my writs and regular nodes while questing or waiting on randoms I end up with 1-2 gold platings weekly.

I had enough to gold out my deadly strikes, Siroria and mother’s sorrow jewelry. My AY I’ve got 2/3 gold piece already from vet and 2/4 platings to finish the 3rd.

What I did wish was that breaking down the gold jewelry from vet trials gave a plating instead of grains. That’s the part that hurts when you have half a dozen eternal Yokeda rings in the bank.
