i honestly have never been over dependent on healers, and always have my own stuff sloted.

had dungeon run recently that went great, never came near death, thanked the healer for the awesome heals and departed, realized after that i had my pale order ring on the whole time. . .whatever, still went great.

I only hate fake healers in pugs, that don't heal at all. As a tank that puts you in a weird position, where you have to be a health tank with high self healing from the start or you die. And ironically you usually get the blame as the tank. Especially in vet HM it is frustrating, when that happens.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

    Worst experience with healer?
When healer is a bow light attack spamming nightblade (or insert %classname%), thinking that he's good enough for some vDLC content.
    Insta-kick in that case.

I run a warden with winters respite and can pretty much look after my self but I have seen some healers just stand there not doing much

I mean, my tanks can usually live fine without a healer so my worst experience was not with healers, but players in general, that lay down on the floor dead/ignore mechanics.

This one time I que for a random vet without a full group I didn't get a dps fake que as healer but an actual healer.
It was absolutely horrible, I was confused, disappointed and a little frightened.
Then I promptly remedied the situation by always queuing with a full group and there was much rejoicing.

Yeah not really had issues with healers but more with dps standing in red expecting the healer to just heal them though it

I had to chuckle over this. My healer was running VoM a few days ago with guildies. The first mini-boss put a blue reflect damage beam on one of the dps. We knew to stop attacking but their health bar was already down about half. I cast a heal on them and their red bar didn't move. Panicking a bit, I used half my magicka spamming heals on them to no avail. By the time the beam broke they were down to less than a quarter health but survived. Then they sheepishly said the problem was their pale order ring. No more real problems but it was very distracting for the rest of the dungeon that one of the group did not respond to heals.

I do have a tank that I made primarily to experience combat from inside the helm and behind the shield with bosses in my face - so I could learn how to better support them as a healer. What I learned is that tanks value dps from their group more than anything. I also learned how much a typical tank likes getting resources (especially stam), particularly at the end of a fight since their stam regen is usually very low. So I try to push shards/orbs on the tank - even right after the fight. One thing I like about tanks as a healer is that when they do get in trouble, their health bar does not drop precipitously; rather I have plenty of time to see, react and heal them.

What would you consider as a fake healer?

Someone queing for the role healer and not healing anyone but himself, if at all.

Yes that happened to me. Twice.
One time in particular the DDs noted that too. So a DD slotted a Resto staff and did a few heals on the side. Dungeon was normal Darkshade 2 and we didn not notice until the poison cloud of the last Boss, Engine Guardian, smothered us. 😵

But this taught me to always have backup heals ready.

Nothing stands out in particular, as I also slot plenty of self-heals on PUGS.

There have been times where the DDs seemed to be dying unreasonably quickly, and I suspect the healer wasn't able to manage them or spent too much time trying to do damage of their own. Could have been the DDs' own fault running around too much.

I only tank dungeons. Healers are rarely an issue in anything lower than a vet DLC dungeon. Crimson set takes care of the shaky healer.

However, in the instances that come to mind, its the healer that doesn't drop shards or orbs. Thanks for the resources.

Second, Barrier. Either the healer doesn't slot Barrier so I have to; or the healer does, does not answer me in group chat that he has Barrier, then drops Barrier AFTER I drop a Barrier.

Third place, the healer who is really a weak DPS. I can deal with a strong DPS instead of a healer; in fact, in most dungeons its preferable. But no heals and beating the boss with a feather isn't helping anyone out.

As a Dragonknight Tank I don't even notice them to be honest. I can heal myself to full in a couple of buttons and it's more about how well they can keep the DPS alive while I'm corraling all the NPCs together, in the process of taunting, and/or other mechanics. Most helpful thing a healer can do is toss an orb my way to refill my magicka supply.

On my tanks I've never really experienced that many "bad experiences" with healers since I can do just fine without them. However, there was one experience that was rather frustrating. I was the main tank on the final boss for vSS HM and the healer assigned to the tank somehow just couldn't stay alive. There are few things that will make your stomach drop like watching Nahvi preparing to hit you with his breath AOE and the healer assigned to you is dead.

We managed to clear it...but only because I saved my ulti's to use magma shell for the breaths when the healer was down.

I build my tank so that the healer isn't necessary for me in dungeons. Half the time I am running with 3 DDs anyway.

I have never had a bad experience with a trials healer. I guess I am just lucky and have good groups...

Neither the tank, nor on the receiving end of this, but witnessed this "lovely display of comradery" couple weeks back:

Got Wayrest sewers as random normal - dd 600+ cp, grouped with 200 (i think) cp dd, 400 cp tank and max cp healer.
At start of the run, tank writes in chat he's new to tanking and to be please patient with him. Both dds write "ok, np", healer says nothing. First boss - tank goes right in - sword and board, lava balls ... and dies half way through the fight. No problem, one dd takes the boss for a bit, the other goes res. Second boss - situation repeats and the healer makes snide remark about "tank in paper armor". By the time we get to the last boss there are columns of toxic trash about the tank by the healer. Also, the healer was treating heals like precious treasures not worthy of rest of us (caught him actually healing maybe five times during the run). Like - why, man? Experienced tanks might not need healer at all, but he states he's beginner at this and you a) won't heal him and b) expect perfect performance? Do we have so manny tanks in game, that anyone trying to get in tanking needs to be discouraged at all cost?
We never wiped btw, neither took unusually long to run the whole thing. It seems healer was just offended he has to actually heal ...
