I recently played a bit of bow/bow warden. It felt a lot like magicka, but with more damage and less group utility. :)

I may have been the first person to popularize the idea of a bow/bow DK benefiting from the poison sustain passive. But it's really awkward to solo with a cast-time spammable. :( I'll probably try again soon, but with Silver Shards. I doubt she'll be very strong even with the new build, but so be it; I try to give all my characters a turn eventually.

bow/bow dk..hmmm imo bad choice..stamden/stamcro bow/bow is very nice.. more options for range dmg

Please. Stam is easy mode this patch. Use 2-h front and dual wield/bow back. Run brawler as your spammable and never die. Eventhough less damage than wrecking blow, you’re still at least 5k more damage than best mag classes.

Still need to step out of some aoe..with range..spam shield when needed and you are ALWAYS out of most aoe

More respect to those running a stam DD through vMA (and finishing) without werewolf ;).

I've aleays found stamsorc to be one of the easiest for vMA. Much easier than magclasses (except magsorc).

    Hi,

From my own experience, playing stam characters requires different defensive moves, you may rely on block and dodge-roll much more than mag characters. You will have sustain troubles if you don't include some way to buff regen or restore ressources in your build or rotation, that includes all skills and heavy attacks. Always keep stam pool high enough to break free, especially when facing CCs.

Having magicka skills in stam setup will greatly help your sustain. Yes, it deals less damage, but you have this whole pool of ressource that is not pressured. Also consider including gap-closers or speed buffs, and some distant attacks even on melee characters.

With constant heal and shield, standing in AoEs is not such a threat in overland (though it will probably kill you in dungeons). IMO, stam players should start as tanks, get used to being focused, and only after that move to more glasscannon builds ; my friend playing healer always says "whatever your parse score, a dead dd deals 0 damage".

dont take as stone garden as a reference, it is very, very, very melee unfriendly, i swear to god i have no idea how that thing left the drawing table. just like vIR is *** if u r running warden (netch purging a mechanic u need to use).
the others you mentioned are fine as melee.

Are Stone Watchers (DOM) with their red AOE ring a problem? I always see melee guys go down to it when I play tank lol.
Also Scalecaller I'm not looking forward to with the giant AOE on the ogre's etc.

I dunno I'm still learning how Stam works.

Very problomatic. Stone watcher do 3 types of aoe. 1 is around when they move and another is ground based around it, that one useually what kills people. Last one is a channel where they cast multiple aoe on targets deal lot of damage but can be easily interupted. I need have any problems with stone watchers when I play range, but I always on my toes when I play melee. Even as stamsorc with a lot of healings, if I get stuck, I die from stone watchers.

My stamblade is my main and I play most comfortably with her, but still I see the lack of balance between her and my magsorc. The sorc fights close due to her choice of skills but she is tougher in light armor than my stamblade in medium due to a little more distance from the bosses.

Medium armor needs more to help with magicka attacks that just eat right through them since there are no shields for them.

It always seemed to me that stam are in some sense easier than mana))) Play on mana.dk for a while, quickly get used to stam.dd. It's not as hard as it sounds x)

I do and utterly hate and cannot get used to stamina 5m range. DKs have more comfortable range at least.

Hardest part about playing stam is getting groups to do hm trials with. No one ever wants to take stamina anymore, is if your main is a stamina dd, you’re left out to dry more often than not

Everyone has to step out of aoe, block, reposition, etc. Usually all classes stack together in fights right on the bosses tail. Best thing about mag is ranged attacks for when things are far off (creepers in cloudrest for instance). But stam has plenty of ranged options, just not as efficient as mag, plus no light attack weaving when ranged unless using bow. But imo 2h front bar and whatever backbar is the way to go for easy mode. Use brawler spammable (probably one of the best skills in the game-decent damage, aoe, shield all in one) still pushing 100k on 21m dummy (console) and not quite optimal set. How many mag classes can do that?
... and sustain is so much better. Also, I’m someone who has always played mag but I’m finding that I enjoy playing stamcro most this patch.

I too prefer mag over stam specs. Always have, even when mag was considered sub-quality DPS. I feel like survivability and sustain are non-issues with a mag character with or without a healer in play.

    4. Mag you can pop a nice skill that gives you shield based on max magicka, Stam you have to morph a weapon skill into it (2h, AOE) giving up damage :/

It seems to be the opposite to me. Brawler deals damage, but harness magica/dampen magic does not. You are gaining damage going with Brawler as shield ability. Plus, there is a master weapon, that gives Brawler even more damage, based on enemies hit... :)

Well.... stamplar really is by far the easiest DPS. The other stam classes not so much.

Exactly, why use a shield when you can get one every time you use your spammable, and it is stronger with every enemy hit, plus does damage, plus hits multiple targets. In the past it might not have been worth using over other skills but when you are doing 110k damage and drop down to 102-103k...well, thats still not too bad. Plus survivability is just so much better. For you magicka players, it’s literally the equivalent of getting an iceheart proc every time you use the skill-not just every 6 seconds.
