Ancestral Reach Motif Find Chance - 13 million gold profit

Hey guys, I made this spreadsheet about the ancestral reach motif.

On the second day of the Markarth DLC, I found out that ancestral reach motifs drops from western skyrim and blackreach treasure maps. I bought a total of 233 maps and got 62 motifs out of it.

I didn't really find a lot of blackreach maps so the data is a bit incomplete. But digging a western skyrim or blackreach treasure map have approximately 1 on 4 chances of finding the motif.

When I was farming the motif, I dug the treasure until I found a lead. Then scry and excavate the motif, after that I began digging the treasure maps again. This is only possible since treasure maps stack only if it is on the mail.

I got 13 million gold in profits on the first week of the Markarth DLC.

Thanks for the information. The real question for me though is what are you going to spend that 13mil gold on?

It's impossible to acquire western skyrim maps right now, it get sold out quickly.

And in the hope of getting more maps into the game : what's a good way to acquire treasure maps ?

For me, I have been lucky to get a couple from thieves troves in western skyrim that gave me a Reach treasure map, although I am now at 0 for 8 on motifs - standard rng luck for me !

I'm getting frustrated with this chase.
I haven't found a single map for The Reach, Western Skyrim, or Blackreach since the Nov.2 patch.
It feels like they dialed-back the drop chances by a whole lot.

I wish when we collected hungering void pieces from the arena, we would also obtain the corresponding ancestral reach page as well, since void is just a lazy reskin of that style anyway.

Normally I’m straight in to get new motifs but not this time

After clearing the whole zone and wasting my time doing over twenty treasure maps and finding nothing I did something I normally don’t and looked at the prices for them in guild stores

Even for a new motif the cost is immense which says that clearly farming these things is going to be a gruelling waste of time. Also, as it is a small improvement over a awful base game motif it simply is not worth the effort.

If any turn up in some distant future I will use them but for right now it’s gone on the ‘can’t be bothered pile’ along with the ludicrous grind to find those battleground shield styles
