You have 3 options as a magic user. Bash (this is a fundamental game mechanic you should definitely be aware of for any end game content), Crushing Shock, or apparently, if you kill the mini boss, your grappling hook will interrupt them each time you port to them. That said, if playing on magic, and doing the green arena first (which you should), the mini boss method is not an option.

I really suggest running tri stat food for this fight so you have plenty of stamina.

Unless you are speed running this place, why on earth would you not have a shield on a sorc? They have the best shield in the game.

bash them like you would with other enemies with similar mechanics

Crushing Shock will work if you'd rather use a magic ability instead of using stamina to bash them. Unfortunately the platforms are just out of reach for hitting a mage on a different platform so it being ranged isn't a factor, it's just a matter of which resource to use.
You also have to interrupt them in the 20 second window before they get the shield.

How? They’re basic mechanics. How did you not get nuked by final vMA boss without interrupting? So many dungeon mechs revolve around interrupts.

I’m genuinely at a loss.

When people say shield, btw, they mean the sorc skill Conjured Ward, or it's morphs (Hardened/Empowered) ward and not a sword and board. It is a magicka shield, the best one in the game, and should be a staple skill for any sorceror looking to increase their survival.

You can find this skill in the daedric summoning skill line. Keep it up and as long as it's up enemies won't generally be able to damage your health bar.

I question that too. I do not believe you could complete VMA without an interrupt of some sort. Unless of course you are doing the nuke strat on the final boss and are really good at spawn killing flame spinners in round 8. That said, anyone that can do that understands bash/interrupt as a mechanic. Nobody does a 0-100 nuke on the final boss the first time.

If someone just happened to run crushing shock and didnt realize what they were doing, they would enrage the round 8 boss and never survive.

And yes, Shield refers to the skill not the weapon line. You dont need to equip a shield to bash, you can do it with any weapon.

I just bash their faces in. I guess one could also slot Crushing Shock to get that ranged interrupt spammable.

I only interrupt 2 of them, then can go back and forth when he becomes invulnerable after summoning the two archer/mage adds on the pad.

rinse and repeat.

On my Argonian, I just continue to use spell power pots, since I get stam back.

On other races, I have tri-pots slotted, just in case I need the stamina for that phase.

Since you are a magica character, it's a good idea to use crushing shock to interrupt, so that you can save your stamina for dodge rolling the boss' charge and heavy attacks. Also, one thing to note is that, if you beat the hidden boss in the Hunter's Grotto, you get an enhanced grappling bow, so that when you go to the minotaur boss and grapple to a platform when an add is channeling, it gets automatically interrupted.

so i got the enhanced grappling bow and that works well (thanks jaimeh)
cleaned red blue and green and start working on the final boss (on normal)will be for the week-end

so finished vateshran on normal
no weaving no anim cancelling no bunny hopping no special gear and only front bar
i dont think i will do it on vet soon last boss was no fun at all
and i play this game for the fun !
