MagNecro build question

Hi guys!

I am using my necro right now with Elemental Succession, Mother's Sorrow and Ilambris.

I have a few questions please.
1) If i continue using Elemental Succession, is Orb better than Fire Rune?
2) Does Ilambris help me sustain damage procs on Elemental Succession or should i swap back to Maw? Does succession buff Ilambris damage?
3) Will Medusa profit my necro more than Mother's sorrow, considering my execute range is nothing but crit?
4) Will i lose a lot of DPS if i don't use the Maelstrom staff and instead doublebar Mother's sorrow or Medusa?

Thanks so much in advance to everyone!

    1. Orb is still likely better since it ticks at double rate compared to Rune
    2. Illambris will proc Succession but Illambris is proc damage that does not scale with Spell Damage (only Penetration and %Damage Done increases such as Minor Berserk or Slayer)
    3. If you have 5 Grave Lord skills on your front-bar then you will have an extra 50% Critical Chance during the execute phase. You can also look at that as 50% / 4 = ~12.5% additional effective Critical Chance over the entire duration of your fight. You would indeed be "wasting" some amount of Critical Chance if your execute phase Critical Chance goes over 100%, but if you are using Succession (which contains zero lines of Critical Chance) you are probably not going to do that. To answer your question, I like Medusa because it allows us to use another (or better) DoT in place of Channeled Acceleration or Trap.
    4. Yes, you will lose noticeable DPS if you don't use the Maelstrom Staff
