How is ESO on the new consoles?

A brief glance through the first two pages of General Discussion suggests that ZOS just recently released another game-breaking patch; no surprises there. But out of very morbid curiosity, besides the current patch issues, how is ESO performing on the new consoles for those of you who lucked out and managed to get yours on launch? My PS5 preorder is still en route to my province, so I haven’t been able to download ESO again just to see if we’re still stuttering around at sub 25 FPS in open world or blue screening at wayshrines.

I think they are too busy playing something else ^^
By reading the comments from PS4 users - Blue screens/Crashes/Very late bug fixes compared to PC (some taking months), I think you get your answer 'between the lines'.

Performance will be the same because ZOS didn't release 'next-gen' version of the game yet (source: here and here) and the game runs in backward compatibility mode. So yeah, you will still have lovely slideshow in cities and frequent crashes (especially after recent patch).

The only difference would be shorter loading times (when logging in, swapping characters or changing zones) since both PS5 and XSS/XSX have an SSD.

Hmm. I was hoping frame rates would be opened up a bit, at the very least.

That’s what I will be doing when I get my PS5, and what I have been doing for the past year or so on my PS4. :) Someone message me when ZOS has finally has a functional game on console again.

Well.. all that can be improuved simply by getting a sronger hardware will be improved
From the article they posted, those with the base ps4 and xb1 will see improvement to the pro/xb1x level and all will get improved load time

The ps5/xsx version will probably improuve heven more

On the PS5, the load screens are a lot faster and the game itself loads a lot quicker. It's the same PS4 client so still getting blue (now grey) screens, and game freezes in PvE and PvP. No marked improvement to skill delay issues but the frame rate drops appear less, or maybe I just got lucky on the weekend

Not much different tbh, I play on PS5 and havent really noticed any difference. I run a 4k UHD TV at 60hz, even though my TV is 120hz because no hdmi 2.1, just 2.0b. I thought it may have boosted to PS Pro level at least, but it doesnt perform any worse, so I’ma keep playing

Doesn’t sound promising. Think I’ll stick to playing well-optimized games that don’t crash constantly and enjoy 4K 60 FPS gaming until ZOS gets around to their next gen update.

My PS5 arrived today. Besides the time played, another new feature in the UI is your ability to see when last you played a game. My ESO stats tell quite a story. :)

Wanna get me back, ZOS, so I can put another 3k hours’ worth of continuous subscription back into the game? Make ESO playable on console again. Take advantage of the PS5’s/XBSX’s better hardware and give us a game that doesn’t crash every five minutes and judder along at 20 FPS, please and thanks.
