Don't get me wrong it still needs it's next gen patch so we can up this framerate but on the Xbox One X I frequently saw dips especially in crowded areas / towns. Holy crap now it runs at a locked 30 no matter where I go and everything is so fast and snappy from loading times to the menus and the map.

Bring forth that PS5/Series X Patch now.

It will run at locked 60 in crowded areas with that Ryzen 3700x inside.

However for Cyrodiil 100 people battles FPS will still drop to 30s (sometimes even lower)

I agree with that as even the best of PC systems drop. If it can manage to run as well as a high end PC I'll be very happy.

I haven't read into the details but assuming ZOS next gen console update for ESO will allow higher FPS. It would be silly not to with the better hardware. I can't even imagine having to play any game at 30fps or lower, no way I could do it. Just wait until you get a solid 60fps or higher, it's going to feel like a whole new game and bring consoles up to PC performance levels. Glad to hear some positive news for console users.

I'm waiting for my PS5. I'm wondering how it's going to run on the PS5 with that smartshift that the PS5 has.

What does the game use more of, the GPU or the CPU?

Most important is Single Core CPU power, especially in situations with many players or lots of effects around. However, new areas are more demanding on the GPU than old areas. On PC I definitely have less FPS in Summerset and later chapters than in Morrowind and base game. In the new Vatesharan Hollows arena I have huge FPS drops, especially in the last boss fights. Until then I have seen such FPS drops only in situations with either a lot of players (like main city hubs, big Cyrodiil sieges) or an average number of players, but lots of effect (trial boss fights).

That huge improvment to FPS players are seeing on the new console are very promising, though, a lot better than I was expecting. So it is my understanding, that this is even without optimization for the new consoles and it will become even better?

The Xbox one was fine for me while playing the older zones, but the fps in the newer zones is to low. I am playing on stadia now because of the performance difference. I can live with 30 fps when it steady at 30.

Honestly every game that struggled even a little bit on PS5/Series X is heavily improved especially if they have unlocked framerates. We are seeing games like Kingdom Hearts, Hitman, Last Guardian etc and they all of a sudden run GREAT instead of ehhh. So yea, ESO is going to run rock solid now and when it get's the proper patch hopefully in the next few months it's going to look and play even better.

CPU which is why the Xbox One and PS4 struggle so much with this game. In the new consoles though they actually put in a great CPU which is why everything is such an upgrade (aside from the SSD obv) but yea. Even when the PS4/Xbox One came out, their CPU's were already dated as hell.

Do we know when / what the next gen update for ESO will be? I'd be happy if I can have PCs ultimate / max gfx settings on my Series X with FPS of >30. That's all I want.

I actually fully agree with this. Its awesome that console players also can get a taste of the PC style eso that we have. Perhaps its time to add addons aswell for console users?

Anyway for all you console folks, hope you enjoy 60 fps when that eventually comes:)!

Well, at least there's good news abound amidst the chaos of a disaster of bugs, glitches and crashes another DLC has brought to the game. However, I won't be camping out or tackling someone for a PS5 anytime soon. Given ESO history since launch, it has always been the same; DLC or chapter launch, game jacked up for 2-4 weeks or so until a patch/fixes come out. Will be no difference with Markarth (hopefully.)

My PS4 is working fine with other games. As long as ESO will continue to support PS4, there's no need for me to spend the load of money on a new PS5 (unless my PS4 breaks, of course.) A year or so from now when the PS5 is down 100 dollars or so and PS5 games are discounted 50% or more, then it would intrigue me to purchase. Man, I still crack up on people's impulse purchases or those camping out, waiting in line for hours an hours, or fighting each other to purchase something on release day. Ha ha.

Still, good to hear you're enjoying your new Xbox..
