sorcerer passives

Why is it that so many of the sorcerer passives require blocking a spell to have any effect? I hardly ever block spells so that means they are worthless.

Having a different playstyle is totally fine, @Kendric5 ... just don’t expect everyone including ZOS to automatically cater to your playstyle.

One passive. Sorcs only have one passive, Persistence, that requires blocking an attack to proc its effect. And while it may not be useful to you, it can be to sorc tanks. Why? Because, ZoS has been pushing the all classes being able to do all roles.

I've been running a Sorc Tank since 2015. This isn't a, "every class should be able to fill every role," situation. Sorc tanks are legitimately solid options, and ironically it calls back to the original version of the class in the single player games. Sorcerors were heavy armor magic casters who specialized in conjuration and destruction.

That said, Persistence is not particularly useful for Sorc Tanks. Unholy Knowledge, Power Stone, Daedric Protection, Expert Summoner (because your Clanfear is your health scaling click heal), and Capacitor are the major picks. Blood Magic (because of Encase) and Persistence (because this will proc eventually) are both nice to have, but nothing mind blowing.

And then you have Bolt Escape which, in the right hands, can do some absolutely insane things. The sorc tank is, flat out, the most mobile tank in the game, and there are entire strategies they can employ that simply aren't available to other classes.

Idk I am aware of this passive, and it is still useful for dd. For example running vLoM last boss I usually "gain" at least 4k magicka total from it. That's a lot. Depending on fight being able to block things between light attacks and skills can ease up on the sustain sorcerer needs so much.

On tank it is not as felt because you don't use skills as much as on dd, but it definitely does help with sustain, even more.

I'm not saying Persistence is the only useful sorc passive sorcs have, or that it necessarily is. Simply that it can be useful to sorc tanks. I'm also aware sorcs have solid options for tanking, from mobility, block mitigation, health-based heals, and even crowd control. I do know the class, I main a sorc, and while I don't main a tank I do keep a tank spec on my sorc.

I did not say anything about the passive not being useful for dds, just that while OP may not find it useful, others can. On a tank, I feel it can be useful, as in it has the potential to be useful.

Was just pointing out that it is not a useless passive for non tanks as well

    Thanks for the information everyone.

Taleof2Cities you automatically figured that I was saying that zeos should cater to me. I asked a question and now have some answers. I guess I could have worded the question differently but don't make assumptions.

I guess I am frustrated with my sorcerer as they have made so many changes to the class that my sorcerer sucks now compared to what it was.

I like to play with out a pet and so most of the classes damage seems to be focused on the pets. I don't really mind the pets, other than they are always in the way, but they take up to many bar spots to use them.

Does the passive rebate work with bound armor, hardened ward and daedric curse to rebate magic?

How about daedric protection and expert summoner? Do actual pets have to be used or does bound armor or hardened ward count?

Is there somewhere that I can find detailed info like this that is up to date?

I recently returned to play and find that it is a different game. Classes that were great now seem to be a shadow of themselves.

Rebate - whenever skill is complete, it means all active skills give you back resources when their duration is over. Sadly it is strongest on daedric prey, which is cheaper than hunting curse to begin with, putting pet sorc higher sustain wise.

Daedric protection - slotting is enough.
Expert summoning - you must have a pet summoned.

Read the passives. Most of the info I just provided is in the description.

O I just found that other passive that turns out be be in the restoration staff line. I guess that is why I was thinking that to many passives were for blocking spells.

I was reading the spells and it is not clear.

    Thanks for the info!!

    1. You should block spells.
    2. Persistence is a passive that is useful to all playstyles, unlike some other passives.
    3. Your sorcerer class is not bad, it is different.
I was reading the spells and it is not clear.

If it is not clear, test it. I wouldn´t trust info given here to be honest - not that it isn´t usually correct, it is just that things change so much and some in-game descriptions have been flat out wrong in the past. So if you want to know for sure, get something like the CombatMetrics addon, and check the combat chat log to see more exactly what happens. But the in-game info is better now and more clear than it used to be.
