Aldmeri Symphonia, golden lead: Preserved Music Box Mechanism

The Preserved Music Box Mechanism is suposed to drop from safeboxes in multiple zones.
Anybody know who zones? Glenumbra is hinted but also other are mentioned but unclear if this the gold lead or one of the others.
Its not so many safeboxes in Glenumbra.

Any safebox in any zone can drop it. Just like the piece that's in jewelry boxes. Any of the safebox containers is fair game.

It drops from Grahtwood, for sure. I farmed the trading post in the northwest part of the zone for a few weeks. There's like 6 safeboxes in that area.

Has opened so many safeboxes. Khajiit with two +sneak sets and maxed ledgerman so its pretty much farming but number of boxes are limited.

I do not remember where i get it, may by stonefalls, need to see location in game to say it, but now i cant

I try in auridon first - can not find.

Then look 6-8 hours in that zone and all go well.

But all difference is there are a lot of safe boxes.

In auridon may be it is possible to get to but only 3 safe box i know There may be was 10+ so nay be it is just faster.

Yeah, I have 3 music boxes and the safebox one is always the hardest to get. I choose a zone that has a lead in "all loot tables" that I want as well.

And yes, I'll get Black Market Mogul before I'm done getting all the music boxes I need. :-)

And I can't remember which specific zones I got my leads in because I do zone hop a bit so I don't get bored.

I got first from safebox in Malabal Tor in Bandaari trading post. Then got another in Ebonheart city.

Fond that the standard in game traders has more of them, both out on marked and in houses.
Will look around guild traders too. Crafting location tend to have at lest one, the guilds and the bank always have too.

I got mine in Bal Foyen. Because there area crap tone of safe boxes in that area and it was just efficient.

I got mine in Blackreach which makes me think you could find it in a lock box in any zone.

I started in Bal Foyen then Auridon, I was also told to look everywhere. I took it upon myself to start opening Intermediate and above safeboxes only because of it being gold. I got my lead in Mournhold at the west part of town near the chef, Good Luck. Hope this helps because it`s a pain to find, took me over 1500+ safeboxes.

From what I read, Glenumbra seemed most likely, and there is the greatest number of safeboxes in Daggerfall, so I made a batch of invisibility potions (I have ledgerdomain maxed and most of the passives a non-Khajiit can have but still cannot open one undetected directly in front of someone — unless invisible) and made the route at least once each night. It took many days (weeks?) but I eventually found one — and then found a second soon after that! (It seems I now compulsively open safeboxes, lol!) Now I am stuck on my second trying to find again the Aldmeri Golden Embellishments and it is much more difficult to find thieves’ troves with any regularity!

I looted only a few safeboxes in Auridon and got it, if I'm not mistaken, after trying numerous times on Grahtwood without success.

You can use the -2 meter sneak detection sets. Vesture of Darloc Brae,Night Terror and Night Mother's Embrace.
You can get an -6 bonus with all 3. I uses two on Khajiit. Get caugth a couple of times but just use the writ who reduces bounty with 500 gold and carry on.

I wear both Night Terror and Night Mother’s but if the safebox is right directly in front of an NPC, they will still see you. You can wait for them to move away, but when I’m making rounds, it seems quicker to use a potion when needed. But I should put the bounty reduction writs on my quickbar so that I can find and use them faster than a guard shows up in my face!

The bank in Rawl'kwa was challenging, this one had to find an spot to getting into sneak before looting.
Quick slotting the bounty reduction writ was an good idea however.
But that is kind of on backbar now, new zone and rearranging inventory has priority.

Lol after trying in daggerfall for like an hour I read your post and go try in auridon. First *** safe box infront of my apartment spits it out and I was gonna give up after 3 lmaoo
