Stop kicking me for inactivity when I'm in que

The title says my point.

Do not start my inactivity timer until after I miss a que. If I am in que, the last thing that should be happening is getting kicked for inactivity because we can't be actively doing anything or we risk either not getting the que or seeing the que as well as those times when we are randomly removed from que because we're in combat at the time that the que pops up or doing something else the game doesn't like. The current solution, if in que, is to sit and chill to ensure that the que is up and seen when it's ready. Players should not be required to stare at the screen doing nothing in order to use the LFG tool and then be penalized by getting booted if they are not moving around the whole time.

Scenario1 - Que for Cyro and you're in position 104. You get down to position 30 after 45 minutes of being 'active' at the keyboard and decide to do ANYTHING other than sit in front of the computer screen for the next 15 minutes and you get booted to login.

Scenario2 - Que for dungeon and instead of staring at the screen until the que pops, you get booted to login after 15 minutes.

Easy fix, start the inactivity timer after the player misses the que instead of having it run while they are actually in que.

If they miss the queue because they were afk for the past 15 minutes they just wasted about a minute of everyone else's time because those players waited and waited for the queue timer to run out because someone has been afk for the past 15+ minutes.

Then we are going to give them even more time before they are kicked? My vote is no.

The game lights up when queue pops on your screen even if you are alt tabbed. There is no reason for you to do stuff in game to be eligible to queue.

My comment is talking to the point that OP suggests the inactivity timer should start after the player misses the queue meaning their inactivity does not start until after they do not accept the queue.

Maybe the solution is we get a 60-second warning pop up before we get kicked and that light up the game's icon on our screen. If they are tabbed out or not in front of the PC to see that then they will not see the queue pop anyhow so kicking for inactivity would not be an issue.

So, you would rather sit in game and not be able to do much of anything while queued except run around town and/or harvest to prevent missing the que. The last I checked, 1 hour of any other players time does not equal 1 minute of your time and if someone doesn't make the que, the rest of the group goes back to the top of the list. Your argument against the suggestion, makes it sound like you're just trying to be arbitrary. And if you try to do anything 'fun' while you wait, Gods forbid you get into combat while out in the world harvesting like deciding to take out a world boss and have said que pop at that time because then you're more often than not sol. Also, it's a suggestion to fix a problem. Try suggesting alternative solutions that will promote game longevity and playerbase growth. That might help the matter.

I'm writing this as I sit in que for 59min now, moving my toon every 10min'ish to keep active. Believe me, I would much rather be doing any number of things than sitting here waiting for the queue to pop but if I leave for too long, I'll get kicked for inactivity. Would you prefer that most players out there click the 'auto confirm' option and actually join the group while afk? I don't do that because I feel that to be the epitome of rude in a multi-player game and a whole lot worse than what I'm proposing.

I'd rather be playing the game than writing this.

Why do you have just sit and wait? Do something else while queued. You can't do any group content but you can still do questing, writs, farm mats, duel, kill WBs, grind cp etc.

That's what the dungeon finder tells you. But as someone who queues on tank a lot, many times it bugs out, being stuck after someone declined, and then insta popping if you restart the queue entirely. The dungeon finder is badly optimised and full of bugs (like the rest of the game).

I still agree though, game shouldn't kick you out. It is not ok. As idk suggested a 1 minute kick notification might be a good solution, but I think it will be more annoying than useful. I doubt anyone that queues goes away entirely just to troll the queue, and if they do, amount of victims being kicked out of the game is still higher.

PS - you can accept dungeon pop up even if you are in combat, just open notifications manually instead of the pop up, and accept through there.

Not hard to push a button every 5 minutes. When I'm in queue I usually just farm crafting mats.

Well for cyro I use the Kill Counter addon (assuming PC) which will accept your pop for you and automatically bring you in, very handy.

In general though I fully agree with you, nobody should get kicked while in queue.

Easy fix...don't go AFK in queue and you wont be kicked. There are PLENTY of things you can do while queueing.

    1. Fishing(not my thing, but some like it)
    2. Farming. This is my go-to activity while queueing...I can use the time to gather mats...I avoid any node that has more enemies than I can kill in 30 seconds.
    3. Crafting. Might as well make some gold while you are waiting...though in this case, you do have to be on a crafter who is also your DPS....which is possible but doesn't happen often.
    4. Getting skyshards/lorebooks/psijiic portals(if you havent done these on the character). While many skyshards are in delves, you can usually get to them and blast through any fight in there in under 30 seconds.
    5. Writs....tedious, I never do them, but something to do.

Pluuuuus - for the last few patches, the queue-pop sound is almost inaudible, ‘cause they changed it to the “swoosh” SFX that used to signal you MISSED the queue (instead of the same “ping” as a new mail message... whiiiich is also bugged lol).

That's only for one environment. On consoles, it can be challenging to see the queue message if you're actively doing something (e.g. combat). And the OP is right, when you are in queue and out in the open world you drastically increase your chance of missing that dungeon.

It would be nice if the ready check was operable through combat. I usually have time to finish up or to escape combat in time to hit it. But not always. I've pissed off people before because I had to run from a world boss (who chased me and reset the fight) so I could get my ready check.

I've also been kicked for "inactivity" for defending the relic in Capture the Relic battlegrounds before. It's one of the reasons I stopped playing defense on those. haha

LOL. I do not wait in the queue as I have better things to do in and out of the game. I am wondering why anyone would wait in queue for an hour, let alone 15 minutes.

The solution is to form your own group or get into one that is being formed. That is a much better solution than changing things so one still misses the queue because they were AFK but does not get kicked out of the game.
