Washing your hands helps prevent Thrassian Plague and Knahaten Flu, even if you only wash your hands for a few seconds... But masks will help stop the spread, too!

I tested the emote in several scenarios and not once did it reduce the amount of disease damage I was taking. I submitted a ticket, but no response yet.

You have to wash your hands immediately after getting hit with the disease damage. Stand there doing the emote in PvP and keep doing it to see how effective it is with that type of damage.

Ofc, you will still die since other damage will be incoming.
