Increase XP Earning in PvP

Eweejy

Picked up playing ESO backed in April and loved it. For the most part I've worked my way through PVE up until the last month or two when I discovered PVP in Cyrodill - I was hooked immediately, both for the group/social and strategic aspects of it.

My primary, a Stam DK (I know not ideal - working on leveling better characters) is currently CP 592 so of course I get smacked around by 98% of the players in Cyro who have Maxed already - regardless I take my licks and get back up.

I have literally been grinding in PVE to boost my CP so that I can be somewhat competitive in Cyrodill - what would be awesome is to have Cyrodill quests/XP gains increased so rather than grind in PVE, I can reasonably gain CP in my preffered game play (PVP) - every leveling guide I've read says that PVP leveling is extremely low - add on the fact that CP is already incredible hard to earn and gets harder the higher you go.
As someone going through it, I do think boosted XP in Cyrodiil would bring more players into PVP - I don't mind be baitfish while I catch up to the folks who already achieved CP810, but it wouldnt be so demoralizing if I was at least gaining CPs while getting squashed LOL.

An alternative would be to drop on of the empty Cyrodiil servers and make a CP1-CP500 server (CP500 from what I've heard was the Max lvl in the past). The current CP servers would be CP500-CP810)

**Non-CP Cyrodiil is not the same gameplay - tried it, not nearly the rush that a Greyhost or Blackreach is, plus it doesn't change the fact that PVP is not ideal for leveling so please don't bring Non-CP up.
**No I'm not trying to make CP810 any less of an accomplishment - for anyone who played ESO when the cap was CP500 please remember that when you were going from CP500 > CP810 everyone was doing the same - nowadays, of 10 players I see in Cyrodiil, 9 are CP810. Playing in PVP is more difficult for new players than it was before since we are chasing a "ceiling" that has an army of CP810's on top.

Food for thought.. thx

Personally, I think XP gain is fine in Cyrodiil, @Eweejy.

Most players are there to gain AP ... not XP.

However, Cyrodiil still allows XP boosts for the niche playerbase like yourself that wants to accelerate XP gain in PvP.

That includes ambrosia, XP scrolls, and event XP buffs (just remember to refresh event buffs before entering Cyrodiil ... since most are mementos).

BG matches could give more for sure. With how long a queue can be, a little boost would be nice on those toons that are being leveled

Sure, I get your points about the AP vs. AP, and Ambrosia boosters etc (trust me I spend all my gold on ambrosias lol)

Point I'm trying to make is that earning CP is faster and more consistent in PVE.. the irony is, I'm grinding CP so that I can be more competitive and contribute more in PVP. When it comes to PVE I'm obviously not as strong as higher CP's but can still handle my own - in PVP I stand little chance against anyone CP750+... wouldn't be a problem is these higher CP's were rare... but they must account for at least 80% of the Cryodiil population.

    Thx.

Understand too that with diminishing returns the mere number of your almost 600 CP is not the biggest difference with someone who is 810+. Most (but not all) PvPers who are CP cap will have much more experience in terms of their setups and combat strategies than you. Your reaching CP cap will not automatically put you on a par with them, even if you copy their builds and CP loadouts exactly.

If you’re on PC, you can get an add-on that shows you a player’s true CP. When you see things like 1000, 1500, even (rarely) 2000+, you will know how much time they’ve put into the game. That, if it’s reflective of actual PvP experience, matters much more than the statistical gap between 600 and 810.

Totally agree - Skill is different than the point setup, but there is no arguing that CP doesn't play a major factor as well.

There is no question that a unskilled CP810 could still wipe a highly skilled CP160 in mere seconds.. so the gap is clearly there... to your point on diminishing returns the gap closes obviously - but if you took two evenly skilled players (a CP810 & a CP600) out of 10 fights the CP810 would win 9 cleanly.

Think that convo gets away from the original point of the post which is that XP earned in Cyrodiil so be raised so lower CPs can get to an even playing field faster.

Some perspective - I've basically played for 6-8 hours everyday for the past 6 months (thank you, Covid) and am at CP600... with XP boosters I'm averaging 3-4 CP's a day so essentially it will take me 70 more days to max.... that's in PVE (a more consistent area to level in). If I were to level in PVP (where I want to spend my time playing) it would probably double that max timing to 140 days.

Eso Plus as well so that's 3-4 CP WITH enlightenment... honestly the scaling on enlightenment needs to be improved as well but that's for a different post.

Ultimately I have a friend (CP450) who won't touch PVP because he gets waxed, I've had two friends quit the game when the realized the amount of time it would take to max... the mountain is too high to climb when earning XP is such a struggle.

I think you just chalk this one up to the XP grind, @Eweejy ... regardless of whether you primarily play PvE or PvP.

Asking ZOS to change the gain now wouldn't be fair to those who have put in their time already to get to the CP cap.

Completly agree with you @Eweejy . I think all those saying to suck it up and grind like everyone else ignore your primary point. For the same time investment, you get MUCH more exp in pve than in pvp. I get that youa lways get AP in pvp, but it’s not like those were super useful.
Personally, I found the best way to farm CPs was to lvl many alts to lvl 50 and do random daily dungeons and BGs on all of them, with xp scrolls. This also allows you to play many different styles, mag and stam, have pve toons and pvp toons, and not be as fragile to balance sweeps. Plus you can get many end of campaign rewards if you lvl all of them to tier 3 every month.
But honestly, as a cp 780 potato, I strongly believe that a highly skilled cp 160 with a full build would destroy me every time. Unless I use proc sets, but thats another problem entirely.

So instead of increasing XP gain maybe make AP also affect champion point gains? Not a ton just enough to bring an active hour in Cyrodiil on par with an active hour in PvE zones as far as champion points are concerned.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
