Well that's the main reason that I put my male character in outfits like this. If ZOS is going to insist that female characters should have "sexy" options, than I'm going to make some people uncomfortable until ZOS starts creating unrealistic "sexy" options for male characters. Some people get really unhappy when I trot him around in the booty shorts and vest Balmoral outfit. If it's inappropriate for my boy, its inappropriate for my girl.
When I am playing my main character and I see a male in a wedding dress I put on the tux and try to get a screenshot.

I don't think its hideous. I actually like the outfit. I was going to gift one to my GF but she bought it ASAP. Design =/= tailoring. Sorry, which one are we talking about, again? Marlene's suit is tailored to her body but shares all the same design elements as a man's traditional suit. The Dark Passions outfit is tailored to the male form but shares all the design elements of the woman's outfit. I see no difference, but you say one is acceptable and the other is "ridiculous."
Look, the point is that you're having an emotional reaction to a design you don't like and you're trying to cite your experience as a professional to justify telling everyone what they can and cannot like, and you're not doing a particularly good job of it because you keep shifting the goal posts.

Being someone who is very much into historical clothing, I'd like to know which supposedly designs these would be. Thigh high boots, cropped coats, waistcinchers/corsets, "shorts", has all been aimed first to men.

No, I think VoxAdActa was right. If it wasn't about gender roles you would have just stuck with the "show the biceps" line of thought instead of making it about how men wear suits to look like they have authority and women are there to be "accentuated" by specifically calling out physical attributes.
Why not do the same with men? Muscle shirts to show the biceps. Tight shorts to show off the rear and frontal region (if not for the modesty panel, ofc). Open Freddy Murcury-style shirts to show off the pecs and hairy chests.
Wait, hang on, that's basically what this outfit is...

I do kind of wish the modesty panel's colour was connected to the booty shorts and not the jacket, though, I would have had a slightly different colour scheme if that was the case.12 -
