Unable to change hair color without paying for it?

Am I missing something here, do we really have to pay to change something as trivial as that? I mean, monetization is completely out of hand at this point, but this.. this is ridiculous, if true.

I agree. I want to change my Sorcerer's hair color so I thought I'd buy the Style thing that let's you change your hairstyle on all your characters as often as you like. Then I found out this only changes the style and not the color. To change the color you need to buy a complete character recustomization, which you can only use once.

    What the...?

@ZOS_GinaBruno Come on guys, I know it's probably not the call of the devs, business side of things is tough, but god damn it, this is insane.. having to pay real money to change hair color in this day and age of gaming is asinine!

You need to pay, but not necessarily real world money. You can pay a player in gold to send you a crown store token. It’s at least better, even if it isn’t actually good (imo).

Honestly it's one of those features that seem missing, since we can buy packs with different hair styles, facial/body markings, adornments, etc. I'd pay to have generic hair color collection unlocked on my toons.

Quite rubbish to pay to completely change a character's appearance just for hair color.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Yeah but someone is still paying money for those crowns, so it’s still a silly, unnecessary monetization. If you pay for the hair pack, you should be able to dye your hair too.

You should also be able to change your skin tone after you buy the body/facial markings packs (which is more relevant for khajiit and argonians, but still).

Appearance change tokens need to be removed. Most MMOs let you change your appearance later on for free (or gold) and it's not a good look on ESO that you need to pay actual money for that.
Race and name change tokens I can get behind, although I think they are ovepriced, but mere appearance changing should be made available for free.

While it would be nice to be able to buy a package of the base hair colors as we did with hairstyles I think it is pretty clear this is not an oversight as it has been this way for several years. Heck, Zos could even sell additional colors individually and make even more.

Much as I'd love that, I highly doubt they'll add hair colour change for free in any shape because 1)they can currently gain money for it 2)if they were to do it, there'd instantly be people asking for free eye colour change, free hairstyle change, free skin colour change etc because if you do one, why would you not do the others? Where do you draw the line? (Don't get me wrong, I'd love free (well, for ingame gold) appearance change, but that's clearly not what ZOS would like)

I think the best we can hope for is hair colours coming to crown store as a pack like hair styles. Which I actually would be pretty happy with - pay once, use forever on all your toons.
