Suggestion: Furniture Hiding

So there have been a couple times where I've liked some part of an item but not all of it. I'm sure we've all time we've used a wall or a floor to modify how an item is shown.

How about selling invisible items that would hide whatever part of other items enter their area is hidden. You could sell various shapes and sizes.

... and it just occurred to me what a technical nightmare it might be to decide what texture is used on the cut bit.

Maybe the hiding item determines it? For example, you could have a large sphere that has a shiny golden texture used to close the cut bits.

I dunno, maybe someone can make something useful from this idea.

I would love if they added something like this

I thought about this a while ago, I would prefer if we could have some sort of texture and collision eraser or mask to hide parts of a furnishing, then when we placed the item back in our inventory it would be whole again

I imagine something like this would also be very useful for the worldbuilding team

I am not suggesting the idea is good or bad. I am just pointing out it would count as another furnishing item. It would count against how many items can be placed into the home as it will be one of the items.

Interesting idea, sounds like it would be hard to implement, but I certainly like the idea of having more options... Maybe some kind of resizeable invisible orb?

I was thinking about furnishing collision the other day, I would love to be able to erase or add collision to certain furnishings. I have a hidden room and would love to have a secret entrance by being able to walk through part of the wall. Would be cool to have an option like that so it's like illusion magic

Yes I totally agree about collision. In my experience with LittleBigPlanet and creating playable levels in the game there was a thing called a tweaker that you could put on a material and make it non-collideable. It had the added bonus that it made the thermo level (an indicator of the complexity of the level) go down. I think it helps by eliminating any physics associated with the tweaked object.

If we had something like this, we could make furnishing objects in places where the player would not be able to interact (like high up on walls or similar) non-collideable and perhaps lessen the load on the game and get better performance and/or more slots that way.
