Seeing Other Peoples Combat Pets in Combat

as the tank it is unbelievably frustrating to have 2 maws rotating their flame breath, a clannfear, and an imp swarming on top of me because zos wants pets to be meta for some reason

My group is going for true genius and on arkasis hardmode theres an attack with almost no telegraphing that you can dodge to avoid scalding solution being applied to you and its actually impossible to see when theres 3-5 other combat pets as well as hostile adds in the fight on top of me depending on the classes im running with and if theyre wearing maw or not.

can we make combat pets invisible to other people?

    I agree that the maw seems to move farthest from the caster to stand between the boss and the tank. I tend to move a little in fights that permit this.

    I am confused with how a clanfear can swarm on top of anyone though. They are very small and stay on the ground. While no one I run with would dream of running a clanfear some do run the volatile familiar and I pretty much never see it get in the way when tanking, or anything else in a fight.

    Edit: and by imp I expect you mean the twilight which usually stays far away from a boss as it is a ranged pet unlike the maw.

    i sorc tank, i run clannfear. and the magsorc dps i run with runs scamp. he just likes it better.

    i really cant understate how almost nonexistent the arkasis attack is that you need to dodge roll. its the same animation that ransack/pierce armor uses. if you dont dodge it, it applies scalding solution to you, which tics for 10k+ damage per second on top of arkasis damage and on top of his adds damage. 10k being on the low end.

    if the pig comes out and gores you, it tics for full damage, unmitigated.

    kind of a big deal that youre able to clearly see it to dodge roll

    I think we would all want this, but it wouldn't work in pvp. Love it or hate it, pets take hits for magsorcs in pvp and that dang dwemer sphere. It would also be pretty weird to take damage from something that you cannot see. You can't even just make them not target able because then you wouldn't be able to kill twilight matriarchs in those rare instances where its needed. For pvp they need to just make it so if you tab target the sorcerer then you will 100% not accidentally hit the pet. Tab targeting in general is pretty buggy and doesn't always make you target the person you tabbed.

    Ideally in pve you should be able to turn people's pets invisible or at least transparent and in pvp tab targeting needs to be more reliable.

    Maws and their flame breath are the worst! I was in VHR the other day with 5 of those bloody things going off, I could not see a dam thing, along with my own Selene procs. 100% agree with invisible other players pets.

    I have had the same issue. If pets are all over the ground in front of you, you can't see the ground-based telegraphs well. I'm going to have to change them to a horrible lurid color that I will hope will show little bits even through all the pet mess PLUS everyone's glittery glowy shiny explody AOEs. Things get very cluttered up there.

    At risk of provoking controversy I cannot wait until zos nerfs maw of the infernal - a nightmare for tanks when you have multiple characters using the set and they all spawn at once in exactly the same place as the tank is standing or has already moved to in accounting for the presence of one.

    They also seem to spawn at a time critical for block/roll-dodge boss signal making it very difficult to judge due to being temporarily blinded by a deadroth's rear-end or weapons-grade halitosis.

    im not a fan of pets being meta either. its why i dont play my magsorc. i enjoy no pet magsorc rotation, but its 10-20k dps behind 1 and 2 pet versions, amost

    Agreed, the check box that says not to see group member effect should definitely include Maw/Inf. Anything without a synergy should not be visible. At the absolute minimum they should shrink the Maw to 25% size, including the fire breath.

    A couple of options: (mostly more troll behavior, so 4 man content)

    1 You can rotate/reposition the boss direction so that the maw is in the DDs face, at the risk of moving out of active AoEs. This behavior makes you look like a bad tank though.

    2 Sorc tank, throw down an Attro right on top of them so they don't have to move to get the synergy ;) If you don't complain about their extra Maw damage, how could they complain about you giving more via Attro & synergy?

    3 Combine 1 & 2 so the zoo is on their side of the action - because if anybody can rearrange this fight as they see fit, it's the player with the taunt.

    Highlighting the boss can help as the white outline helps you see telegraphs despite effects. A little side stepping can help in some cases, but some mechanics don't need any extra distractions.

    not even that, i need to run additional allied effects to see the boundaries of my dps's destro ults ;/

    I'm a min/maxxer mag DD main and hell, even I agree. I can't deal with it and ended up accepting the DPS loss and using Skoria/Zaan situationally. Everyone -myself included- already has to deal with my stupid warden bear, so I figure the least I can do is spare them the Daedroth (which is much more distracting and in the way than the bear, I think, since I the Daedroth gets in the way even when I parse, whereas the bear does not), especially when it's pretty much a given that all other mag DDs in the group will be wearing Maw.

    Only if they are not solid and we can pass through the model, and only then as an option.
    Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

    I remember a few years back they made changes to not see everyone's ground AoEs and visibility was pretty poor back then, especially in 12 man content. I feel like it's somehow gotten worse, even without the pets. Maybe the should do something similar again.
