Snapjaw WB in Auridon not getting 'cleared'

I was running through Auridon two days ago working my way through clearing the zone and acheivement hunting when I came across Snapjaw with some random level 380 templar who had been running the same route as me.
It was just them and I at 5am taking on this *** clannfear. It took a good chunk of time, them dying a couple of times and me by some damn miracle managing to survive and not allowing Snapjaw to reset.
We finally defeated him, but I didn't get an all clear for killing that ***. This had also happened with another clannfear style boss in the EP starter zone, the golden saint or something like that.
Why does this happen? I do not want to go back and fight these jerks again. I hate clannfears so much.
