Housing question

So I see there's 3 ways of buying a house:
- Gold
- Crowns with no decorations
- Crowns with default decorations

Is it possible to buy a house with gold and them buy the default decorations? If so, would I still have to pay the full House+Decorations price in Crowns? Or do the decorations get discounted?

There is no way to buy the house with gold and then buy the full set of decorations that could have come with crown version in one go.

However as far as I know none of the decorations are exclusive to that purchase option (and if they are then they're rare exceptions), they can also be obtained in other ways - either from the crown store or with gold/via crafting etc. so if you wanted to you could get them.

The downside is doing that is expensive. I know it would always be more expensive to buy an undecorated house with crowns and then buy all the decorations seperately with crowns. I'm not sure about gold costs (or a mix of gold, crowns, crafting it yourself etc.) because that's much more complicated and variable but I suspect it would also work out quite expensive.

The benefit is you don't have to buy all of them - you can choose which of the decorations you actually want and just buy them, instead of getting the full set. So if you like a house and a few of the items in it, but not all of them, it might actually work out cheaper to buy the house undecorated and then buy the furnishings you like.

Ah I was asking because I want the house to have all the default decorations exactly the way the devs planned it, but I was wondering if there's a less expensive way of doing it

Yes is the answer, it is possible, or rather will be possible, maybe.

At a.future release (possiblythe next one) the ability to gift houses is being re introduced, whether you can gift a furnished house or not I don't know. Hence the maybe.

However, you would need a lot of gold and would need to find a crown seller willing to sell you that many crowns. And of course there is a lot of risk of being scammed.

But essentially, if I've bought the house with gold, I can't then automatically add all the default decorations to it by buying the decorations "pack" separately, can I?
    Sounds like only options are:
    - Buy house with all decorations with Crowns
    - Buy house without any decorations (with Gold or Crowns) and decorate it myself with each decoration individually. Is that right?

I'm asking all this as I want to buy the houses in each area as I complete each area and I want them all to have the default decorations laid out as the devs planned it

In this case, you might consider using one of the gold to crown discords to make those housing purchases.

I'm the opposite - I want unfurnished houses so I can make them look like I want them to look. Most of the default "dev" furnished houses aren't to my taste at all. But that's one of those "each to her own" sort of things....

I bought my first house furnished because I was new to decorating and wasn't crafting furniture yet. I've since replaced a large portion of it. I bought my next two houses unfurnished and have had no problem filling them up with crafted items I make or buy from others, items I get from Antiquities, and even some quest rewards. I do also buy some items with crowns.

I found I like a completely blank slate so I can really make it my own.

Can we just all agree that the price Zos charge for aesthetic pixels, is extortionately over priced and unfair.

    The end.

A hundred Euros for a mount that's on it's fourth reskin. How is that overpriced?

I think what I'd like to do would be to buy the house with the default decorations, but then add items from the region the house is in on top - like the antiquities stuff for example

Could you take screenshots of the furnished house before you buy it and then do your best to reproduce it?

Some of the pieces can be costly to buy. When I purchased Proudspire Manor there was a painting in it I wanted, but didn't care much for the rest of the furnishings. So I bought it unfurnished then spent a lot of gold later to buy the painting.

I bought Serenity Falls Estate furnished and ended up replacing all the carpets and a lot of the furniture. I didn't like how it was arranged and removed a lot of things, like the extra beds, and ended up making a guest house on the top floor of the barn.

I still have the couches and a few furnishings in the original style, so I feel the house still fits the zone even with my added touches.

I guess I'm trying to say you can do a lot of customization and still stay true to the original style.
