Fishing "Cheers"

ZOS, please consider reducing the length of cheering and silly noises fishermen and fisherwomen make. Listening to my fishermen cheer for 4-5 seconds as they reel in a Slaughterfish, a River Betty, or other rubbish fish is just painful and sounds silly. "Yay, I now have a 0.01% chance of a Perfect Roe!" - does that merit such cheers?. If the cheering can't be linked to the type of fish, please consider reducing it. My guys are still cheering even after they recast!

I think, but cannot prove, this change slipped in during u27. I did Master Angler before and am doing it after. My guy before u27 didn't cheer like a clown before. I also tried adjusting my char with an appearance token (rip 1k crowns) but that didn't help.

MMO Fish are social animals. They are attracted to cheering, and other happy noises, in the hopes they might get to join the party. They are not like single player game fish, who like the seclusion and quiet so that they can contemplate life, the universe and everything. Your characters are just employing basic MMO fish craft to maximise your catch.

I don't even know what to say here. Can't tell if you're making a bad joke or believe what you posted. Can you add any serious comments about my OP? Did you fish before and after u27? Does your character cheer as he reels in that River Betty and is STILL CHEERING as the next cast goes out? Do you even fish at all?

(and no, this isn't my first MMO)

I haven't fished for a while, but yes I've fished a lot in the past. Just for you, I logged on and fished a few holes. I didn't get any extra cheers or yells. It may be that it is only affecting certain 'voices'. I know when I fished with my girlfriend, her character cheers nearly every catch.

You might want to change the thread title to "Fishing Cheers Bugged?" (if you can change it), as it will hopefully attract more attention to the thread, so others can chime in if they are having the same issues. I know it can be very annoying to hear the shouting and yelling all the time.

My only beef with the cheers is that my Artaeum fish food has a time limit. There's 15 seconds left - cast, damn you!

I also have a feeling that my character started cheering a lot more. I don't remember farming for Master Angler being that annoying.
I'd like to have an option to make characters more silent in general, turn off screaming when using abilities too.

First, thank you for clarifying your original post. I'm a foul mood from listening to my char act like a clown and cheer for the last 6hrs so your joke went right over my head. I appreciate you explaining things as well as the tips. I'll give changing voices another go.

Not sure if the thread subject can be changed so I might do another post in the Bugs forum.

I checked the audio settings in vain. No way to muzzle the chars while fishing. Maybe there's an option to muzzle when using an appearance change token. Don't know yet.

I am admittedly not a regular fisher, but I noticed a while back (perhaps during the New Life Festival?) - that my character wasn’t cheering at all - regardless of quality of fish caught... so perhaps this is a correction gone awry?

May not be the most perfect option, but if you have a polymorph, put it on while fishing. Most polymorphs are silent (with maybe an exceptional grunt here and there).

They'd definitely not be cheering like a slowclown at least!

Ok, here's another point...

When I'm in Cyro fishing and my char is hooting and hollering like a fool, it seems like HALF THE ZONE can here me. Getting ganked for cheering like a clown is NOT COOL.

PS: 2nd Master Angler but I'm done with fishing until I sort out this cheering nonsense.

I notice other players' toons cheering occasionally. My man never cheers. Sometimes he growls when reeling something in. Sometimes he nods a little bit too. I do wonder if it's linked to voices/personalities.

For the data: PS4. He's a Breton with one of the younger voice types and the Telvanni personality.

I have also noticed this...

my main Breton never cheered when fishing... just the occasional grunt - now the cheering is just ridiculous.
