Scrying game!

Took an alt character of mine to Solitude and unlocked excavating and scrying. Traveled to Alik'r and scryed his first lead, upon traveling to the nearest wayshrine to the dig site, the glowing area of the map had disappeared. Tried reloadingui, tried abandoning the lead and rescrying and still no dice. Has anybody else encountered this with multiple scrying toons?
