Markarth, Another Dissapointment

I chuckled to myself when I saw it. "Another Southern Elsweyr" , I thought. They could have strived for above the the bare minimum, in order to start filling in the gaps of the map, but no. Just like Southern Elsweyr, it leaves awkward areas that could have been added to create a more cohesive experience.

Have you actually been in PTS yet to test it out, @asuitandtyb14_ESO?

Or, is this your armchair developer view without any testing whatsoever?

You realize there is a Blackreach extension of the map, too, with this DLC ... yes??

Yes I have, and yes I know. That's great if you like blackreach, I guess, and has absolutely no relevance to my statement.

    *** shrugs ***

It does have relevance when evaluating the DLC map as a whole.

Focusing on just what you want to talk about is fine as long as proper context is provided (which was not provided in the OP).

I haven't been in PTS myself, but when I learned they were adding The Reach and a new Blackreach zone in the same DLC, I realized that meant The Reach was going to be small. And I really wanted The Reach to feel expansive. It's a favorite part of TESV for me, and it's the very last opportunity to give the Bretons anything that doesn't feel insignificant.

I'm starting to identify with the Foresworn.

Same here. Missed opportunity, and again, similarly missed opportunity in Elsweyr.

And what part do you think is missing? You mean the one to the west that has the Forgotten Vale? It's kind of obvious why they wouldn't be adding that.
Also how expansive do you want this DLC to be? Do you want it to be chapter sized? We did see the Reach in TESV already so I don't see how they can make it bigger than it actually is...

I get the Elsweyr point but that doesn't really work with Skyrim because we've actually been there before.

Ah but then they wouldn't be able to divide it up and give us another tiny chunk later in the year.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

What's the disappointment? That the zone is smaller?
I don't think a smaller zone is something wrong per se. Now I just hope it's fun.

So we have had clockwork city, Murkmire and Southern Elsweyer and you are still not used to the smaller zones?Markath is eay better than Southern Elsweyr..... Given that it has a new arena new weappns oh and new antiquities..... Not to mention its bigger than it looks because a part of the map is under ground.... Compared to Southern Elsweyer its not a dissapointment.

Markarth actually Finaly touching the other zones. Thats something. What is a hole between skyrim and wrothgar are the mountains. And you didnt really seen that area in Original skyrim too.

About the other small zones. Only S. Elsweyr is the bad, rest are okay and believeable. But S. Elsweyrs gap is too big...

Tho its still not explain how murkmire become a small s. Corner area of the map from the leaked big ass map West from base zones

    It's not a Breton thing.

Btw, Gold Coast and Hew's Bane are smaller.

Not being inflammatory here but have you either:

Tried finding something to like about the game
    or
Considered that if everything in the game disappoints, maybe it’s time for a break/change?

ZOS really needs to add a negative react for nonsense like this. Insightful, Agree and Awesome just aren't cutting it.

But they wouldn't have anything to complain about if they went and played something they enjoy.

I'm really excited for the solo arena. Not for the loot, there's nothing I really want. I just really enjoyed Maelstrom arena the first time around before it became a grind. Not needing anything from this arena is great for me because I can do it as much or as little as I feel like.

I have to disagree with this OP. After exploring and actually playing through some of the DLC on PTS, I thought it was an improvement to the writing.

    To each their own.

I think the OP is specifically talking about how much of the overland map of Tamriel is being filled in by the upcoming DLC, not about the writing or anything else.

I haven't played it on the PTS yet, so I don't know-- and I don't especially care, because I plan to buy the Collector's Edition of it regardless of what anyone else thinks of its map size, story writing, etc.

On the other hand, I too dream (as I'm sure many players do) that someday I'll eventually be able to wander about the full map of Tamriel in ESO, so I can understand the OP's angst (if that's the right word).
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
