New Antiquity Headpiece Proposal: The Empathic Ursid

This helmet, which also radiates a shimmer of rainbow particles and has big Goo-Goo eyes, would offer the following set bonus:

1: Reduces all damage to and from Players by 90%. Triples all damage from Keep, Outpost, and Resource NPCs. Reduces damage to Keep, Outpost,, and Resource NPCs by 90%. Cannot be worn in Battlegrounds or while manning siege equipment.

This should be hard to get. Leads can only be obtained from PvP zones (though the digs are in PvE areas of course). I'd suggest 13 pieces as well: leads from all six Imperial City zones, six from the Elder Scroll Temples in Cyrodiil home zones, and one from the Barathrum Centrata.

When someone wearing the Empatic Ursid helmet queues for a Battleground, they will get a warning about the helmet. On getting the prompt to enter the BG, the player still wearing their Empathic Ursid helmet will be notified that the helmet will be unequiped automatically when they arrive in the BG. Re-equipping it will be impossible while in the BG. Siege equipment just won't let you use them until you take the helmet off.

The only abuse I haven't figured out yet is being inside an enemy Keep or Outpost while stealthed and maybe holding up a AP tic. But how would that be different from any stealthed player hiding in a keep?
Been there, got the Molag Bal polymorph.

What's the point of the helmet though? So PvE'ers are harder to kill when they want to quest in Cyro?

I guess if you want to run around and have people attack you, that's your business. But it does remind me of being able to resurrect people in Cyrodiil. I suppose the helmet should increase your res time so it takes, say, five times longer to res someone?

Not really. I doubt very much it will be offered, but I think there's a place for it.

But people should pay their dues before they can get something like this, and it should affect PvP as little as possible. There's crowd control to think about - PvP enthusiasts could grief our hapless Empathic Ursids by locking them down every chance they get. But then the EUs will learn to carry immovable potions or wear armor that mitigates that too. Or there could be a EU shoulder piece...

So use your normal gear to kill the scroll temple guards take the scroll once your out of combat put this set on and basically become un kill able, as you run the scroll back to your territory.

That or put it on a healer/tank set up to rez people as fast as possible to get their group members back in the fight right away, while being basically un kill able by the enemy.

Nah can't see anything wrong with that set idea at all.

I recognized the problem with rezzing later in the thread. But that can be fixed by blocking it or making it take ten times as long to rez someone.

If you can drop out of combat in time to change armor and then pick up the scroll, you don't need this set to run the scroll back.

Another way to limit this to intended purposes: make this a toggle, but the toggle is not in your settings. It's a little fountain placed in the alliance base camps. By wearing the Antiquity headpiece and drinking from the fountain, the set bonus is activated and you can frolic around Cyrodiil and IC to your heart's content. But only drinking from the fountain again (or leaving the PvP areas) will the set bonus be toggled off and the armor piece be able to be removed. That should prevent any abuse.

Fair point how about this. Everyone who wears this thing will be followed around by a unkillable purple dinausar that has loud farts that stun you every 30 seconds and heal everything you try to kill. It remains for 30 minutes after taking the helmet off.

Or better yet, they are followed by stuga.

I think it would be much easier to just let people who only want to do some simple questing or fishing assign a "civilian" status to themselves. No PvP, no Tel'Var stones. Problem solved.

Sometimes a tank works with a partner or two. They dance around a tree for a while letting the enemy use up their resources then BAM everybody is dead. Well everybody chasing the tank around.

I watched a group of about eight people fall for this trick four times before I decided to be on my way and do other things.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I would add a complete inability to pick up scrolls, and block any and all AP gain. That includes from repairing walls. If you're gonna grind walls like I do to avoid PvP you should at least have to risk it since it IS a battle activity. But fishing and questing and such...no need for AP while doing that anyway.

Too many leads, bleh. And some would be outrageously hard to get for those out of primetime

I definitely want it to be a "pay your dues" situation, though. The only people with one have proof positive they paid the toll.

The questing for the leads might encourage people to gather together for protection. It might help people realize they actually like PvP. Who knows? But thank you all for your comments.
