Lost Treasures of Skyrim - please remove bright flashes from scrying

I really don't understand why they incorporate flashes of bright light into so many parts of the game. Especially when we understand how harmful this can be.

I doubt they will remove what is already there, but can't they put an option to tone down these effects?

For anyone sensitive to bright and/or flashing lights scrying is bad! Epilepsy, Migraines etc. The event looks amazing and the rewards are super amazing - so we're going to want to scry a lot but it literally makes some people ill. Can you switch off the bright flashes at the start and end of each scry? Please!

I second this. Never understood why you'd need to add a screen flash on cinematic transitions.

There's a simple reason: it obscures asset pops. I imagine it's meant so that the player doesn't see the scrying board pop in and out, and that it occurs during story scenes when an NPC needs to appear or there has to be a transition because there is no fixed camera. I really don't agree with it, though. There have to be better solutions that don't cause pain to the photosensitive, don't trigger seizures in epileptic people, and don't cause everyone else eye fatigue.

Editing to say that I think someone on the dev team is fond of the effect, too, for some mad reason. It's appeared during some quests for no apparent mechanical reason.

I can't think of a single other game I've played that does this. Regardless, they could use something beside a bright light. Why not obscure the screen with a quick fade to black instead? That would do the same thing without the pain.

This reminds me of WoW and spinning. There were bosses who spun around at light speed, player attacks that involved spinning, and even seasonal events that required you to spin around for a buff. I kept hoping they'd fire the guy who came up with that idea.

I'm gonna keep a throw pillow on my lap and hurriedly press it to my face whenever I start/end a scry so I can reduce the painful effect of both flashes as much as possible during the event. I shouldn't *have* to suffocate myself to play a game, but that's the (digital) world we currently live in.

Has anyone else tried having a blackout/sleeping mask available while scrying? I keep one on my head and just pull it down over my eyes like sunglasses before and after each scry to block out the light, and it works well for me with minimal inconvenience and discomfort. It's not a perfect solution, but it does help.
    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause
    Legends never die

That could be a problem for people who wear glasses. It's easier to just close your eyes and/or look down or away.

Yeah, I wear glasses and anything that pulls over my face will mess them up. I'm mostly joking about suffocating myself with the pillow, since I can't actually press it to my face, just hold it close in front. My glasses get dirty enough from normal wear without adding to the problem by touching them with random objects!

I guess they will remove it very quickly after few affected people sue them for medical expenses and compensation for caused damages/illness...

I was just turning in rubbings for the Ancestral Tombs Hunter achievement in Vivec City and realized that when you turn these in the screen goes black for a second. No flash of bright light. Why can't they do that to everything and eliminate this source of pain for many of us?

Hoo. I've started doing Undaunted pledges again this week after neglecting them for months and I'm glad I had a friend running them with me. I was reminded that the only thing that prevents me from soloing Spindleclutch 1 is all of the bright flashes during the last boss. I was looking at my lap and muttering the whole time, while I went through my rotation and she just kept my health topped off. We had to take a little break afterward because my eyes were wet.
