Can’t excavate purples (Xbox)

I can’t excavate any purple items... it says “excavation failed” even when successfully uncovering all bonus items as well... so far this is true of the following -
Greensong gathering circle (greenshade)
Hollow one wind chimes (Malabal tor)
Silvenari sapstone (malabal tor)
