Stamden DW rotation

A couple of questions about DW stamden in dungeons. I've been following the guide here: https://alcasthq.com/eso-stamina-warden-build-pve
  1. Many builds slot whirling blades on the front bar, but it never shows up in the actual rotation. When does that get used? Or is it just there for some passive effect?
  2. What would be the difference between using selenes vs velidreth sets? Are there situations where one is better than the other? I remember that in the case of zaan, for example, it parses high on dummy but maybe not so great in an actual fight with a lot of movement...similar case here?

You substitute whirling blades for rapid strikes at 25% in the rotation because it has a bonus to damage.

Selene vs Velidreth is Where it comes down to content. Selene is single target based where Velidreth works better for A bit of extra AOE. With rapid strikes, blade cloak and endless hail going both sets are going to proc constantly.

I run a variant of this but use Sellistrix as my monster set and cutting dive as my spamable instead because it’s easier to weave than RS with its instant cast time. RS if you have to block, bash or roll dodge won’t hit for its full amount. Cutting dive will hit more consistently that way.

I do have Selene and Velidreth sets but those are both on my stamblade right now which plays similar to Stamden actually and I see very little variations between the two monster sets to be honest. What I like from Sellistrix over both is the proc is guaranteed. Every 6 seconds you know it’s going to fire and it also comes with a stun. The DPS is lower but the functionality works great when playing solo and fighting mobs which is what I do most of the time.

The other thing I like to do when parsing or doing trials with a solid healer is using poison injection instead of Vigor on the back bar. That also has an execute. It extends the rotation a bit hitting 3 skills on the back bar but it’s an extra burst of damage for execute phase. I use this on stamblade as well.

Also when I do slot a heal I’m. It a fan of Vigor. Warden has the better heals and the passive also boosts your own plus the groups HP when you use a skill like soothing spores.

Anyhow there are many variations you can try with warden. If you can sustain you can go whirling blades the whole was and double slot bird of prey for the 8% minor beserk. Or if you choose to. It slot the execute and stick with RS or cutting dive as your spamable throughout you can do the same. You could also slot camo hunter for major savagery but you will have to hit from the side or back to get the minor beserk.

As I say you’ve got options with warden.

Thanks! so if the only difference between selenes and velidreth is aoe vs single target, why does the alcast guide recommend selene as the most optimal set, and velidreth as the second set? link: https://alcasthq.com/eso-stamina-warden-build-pve/#content4

presumably the content is the same in both cases, so why the introduction of velidreth for gear setup 2?

Velidreth is easier to use. And will proc even on dots. To proc Selene you have to deal melee damage. That’s why they include rapid strikes in the build. That skill gives you 5 extra chances to proc the set in addition to your light attacks. Honestly you can’t go wrong with either set, so why not get both and see what works best for you?
