What’s up with Greymoor motif?

So I got the Greymoor bow motif from a Psijic portal several days ago and I thought it was some ~10k gold motif, but I checked Tamriel Trade Center and saw it’s being sold for a lot of gold! People pay up to 600k for this thing. So I thought it must be something special, but I don’t get what’s so special about it. It appears that it’s not supposed to be released yet, but that shouldn’t be why people are spending so much on it, is it? And people on Xbox said it’s going away after maintenance, but I can’t seem to find anything about this. So should I hold onto it? Should I use it?

TTC shows listed prices not prices sold at, so that doesn't mean anyone will buy with that price. That's the price people *want* that bugged item to be soled...

It would be cheap later, use a chance to make some money I'd say. Only thing special is motif not being officially released but there are people willing to pay for it to be first to gather all parts or just to complete all achievements asap.

Ok, that makes much more sense. I did not know that for way too long! But on reddit I saw someone say it was sold for 800k, which maybe it’s just a rumor, and I’m not sure why everyone is listing it for so much gold.

Selling easy for 300-400k+ currently on pc eu.

I am not saying whether that spesific item is sold or not. I am just saying that the fact that something is listed with very high price on TTC does not mean it is sold with that price
If I put an iron ignot in the store with price of 1 million gold TTC will show that price. But I doubt that ignot won't return to my mail.

Personaly I don't understand people who pay 10x price for the "first-day" Item but as long as they wish to pay I will gladly make money on them:)

You don't get the motif from harrowstorms yet.
The only way is via psijic portals in western skyrim

Well, if you dont know where to spend a huge pile of gold you are sitting on...

it is a common mistake that several people use such price websites only.

You need to be able to inpret these prices, this requires to have a look at guildstores now and then.

Example:
a price of 600k gold for a motif is unrealistic, if you can buy it for less than 500k from a crownseller (getting the motif from crownstore).
If you look through guildtraders, you can see, how many days this "offer" will remain listed.
If a motif just has less than 10 days left, the price is most likely unrealistic and should not be used as a base for an own offer.

Yeah I usually use my guild stores to determine how much to sell items, but for items I can’t find I use TTC. And no one is selling Greymoor motifs on Xbox! That’s when I checked TTC and saw the outrageous prices. I thought I must have gotten something so rare and precious. I’d feel bad selling this for anything more than 20k so I’m giving it away.

Until the 23rd it's kind of rare since you only have chances to get Greymoor motif pages from psijic portals in Western Skyrim.

Yes of just for the new look. Remember running Jorvuld's Guidance who I farmed just after coming out. and got question about the robe as it was not an motif yet.

I found Chests, sold that one off for 800k. Easily enough to buy the whole set a week or 2 after official launch.

Not everyone has Greymoor. That is probably why prices are high and also only one source of loot if I've understood correctly?
I've never had one drop -> I have Greymoor.

Someone bought one for 600k on a trading guild i'm in. So the fool is going to spend 8.4M+ (14 x 600k) to finish. WOW the max crafting writ for that better be worth 250k+ vouchers lol.

Some are willing to pay surreal gold for new stuff.
During the previous year I sold an purple blueprint for 2.8 million gold, it was an new one and got it from an Elsweyr prologue daily

I've sold furnishing recipes for close to 1 mill when they first released, and plenty of newly released motif pages for a 200-400K gold. My philosophy has always been sell high, buy (or farm) low.

There are people in this game (myself included) who have well over 100m gold. There is little for them to spend gold on in the game except to donate it toward guild trader bids. I do that a little to cover my share, but more than that just contributes to the arms race and just means more total gold sunk each week onto the ZOS ether. No point in that.

For people like those who have everything else they want in game, having a motif that is not yet available in the crown store or from dailies just a couple of weeks early is something they can actually spend their gold on. So they do.

If you have one of the rare items, you can charge whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Which right at the moment happens to be quite a lot because of very limited supply.

That motif is not supposed to be out yet. Getting them from the portals is a bug, that's why they are so expensive. When theyy drop from the daily, the price will go down.

You really need to be a trader to fully understand TTC prices and whether they are realistic or not.

That said, selling motifs for 1 million gold and up is completely normal and can be done with certain motifs under scarce market conditions.

The Greymoor motif is visually amazing and I'm sure that the combination of its looks plus its exclusivity (for now...) are indeed driving wealthy players to scoop it up before its official release.

There are people with more gold than Scrooge McDuck has in his Money Bin and, for them, dropping hundreds of thousands on a motif is simply spending pocket money.

Of course, wise players will just wait until it comes out officially and grab the beautiful motif for fractions of its current prices.

It will be obtainable via harrowstorm daily quests

Man, I thought this thread was going to be a completely different question, and I had my answer to that question all ready to go:

"They're waiting until every single player has reached the point where they hope never have to do another Harrowstorm as long as they live to release the motif. That way, they can reinvigorate Harrowstorms with the motif rather than by updating storms so they're no longer terrible."

The thing that makes them a pain in the posterior is just how many high health bosses spawn before the final guy, coupled with how many damned AOEs appear. Maybe THOSE are contributing to lag everywhere, ZOS.

This is literally the stupidest thing to buy for anything greater than 20k. The motif gets officially released next Wednesday as a possible reward from Harrowstorm Daily Coffers. Currently it was dropping accidentally as a random zone drop but that may have been hotfixed.

At the end of this month, beginning of next month is the Treasures of Skyrim event where there will be 2x node and coffer drops. The price of this motif will plummet real hard to Sapiarch levels, currently about 3k apiece on PS4.
