Would you like to see a new weapon skill line in the next chapter

My favourite would be magicka melee since that is really missing out everyone runns a ranged staff or a stammina line on his melee mag build. But i would take every new skill line.
Ever since this game released we got 6 weapon skill lines (4 stam 2 mag) i think with not adding more they are clearly missing a good option to bring even more diversity into the game.

    There is too much unexplored design space in the current weapon lines. I can't help but think that any skill gaps could be added to current lines and add more depth than creating another weapon skill line.

    Magicka melee? You could add that to dual wield in a way similar to the way destro staves function differently. Perhaps swords could be made to function off of spell damage and max magicka when dual wielded (If a passive is taken) so that you can be a magicka dual wield character and it would also make swords more desirable overall for many builds.

    The problem with adding a completely new skill line is that you generally need to add new weapons, new animations for those weapons, 100+ styles for those weapons and the motif/chapter pages to go with them as well as dilute the current loot tables and potentially go back and add named versions throughout old dungeons. All your crafters will also need to learn all the traits on that new weapon. That is a massive amount of work if they want to add new weapons properly.

    What I always wanted is a possibility for S&B for magicka blocking. With a staff your block can cost stamina and magicka as well, but shield skill line do not have this option. Magicka builds can use their other resource for block, shield users should be able to.

    I would like to see some kind of magical kind of shields, in a new skill line or in the current one. Shields with special effect that really looks like it is a magic barrier on my arm. They already created such effect in large, I think they could do it in small, like a shield as well.

    For my katana warrior a "one handed only" option would be nice. The two handed variant hits a bit to heavy for a light sword

    Engine is not the problem, its balancing it , then animation and updating all the motifs.
    One hand and rune could escape the last one.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    I love the nb class both specs. Having a skill line that’s magic melee for my magblade would be awesome especially since i also love playing a vampire on stamblade and magblade to.

    Thought this thread would be about a weapon skilline we would like to see, not about the specifics of mag/sta already hehe.

    Personally I would love to see a chakram skilline, half ranged/half melee. And it would fit in the game, since it is not a modern weapon. I do not want guns or anything else modern in an elder scrolls game, it doesn't fit.

    I've missed spears since Morrowind, and I think it'd be great to see them come back. Especially since there are NPCs who use staves as a spear for things like fishing.

    Still weirded out that the Spear of Bitter Mercy artifact is actually a staff.

    Plus, it'd be loads of fun to see all of the different polearm styles for each motif...which is another reason we're not going to see it since they need to remake 90+ outfit styles. Also the craftability, but I'd just put it under woodworking to give the bench a bit more use and unlock the style with the staff page.

    Ice staves arent broken. They are tanking tools because when they were DPS weapons they werent being used...they already "fixed" ice staff by giving it to tanks. I am not adverse to DPS getting their ice staff back, but tanks need a replacement weapon BEFORE that can happen...otherwise you are gimping tanks in favor of DPS....tanks are already gimped enough thank you very much

    Everyone asks for spellsword (and I agree), but anything hybrid would be a necessary change imo for the authenticity of the brand. You know... one of the biggest titles that has always promoted hybrid play, until ESO...

    I would almost prefer that each class get a fourth skill line, or if weapons received 1-2 more skills.

    Crossbows would be cool, but I could see the regular bow skill line working just fine, just allow us the option to equip a crossbow instead and use "bow" skills. Also make a subtle change, like in ES5: Skyrim. Crossbows deal more dmg, but make you attack slower.

    If I see guns in ESO... I'm quitting. One of my biggest pet peeves is blending medieval fantasy with modern technology/steampunk. Clockwork city already irks me. Dwemer technology has always been vaguely reminiscent of modern technology, but still mystical and magical enough to still blend in with the lore universe... until ESO.

    I always just smh at "balance" arguments. Lets pretend its a valid argument: at least then we would have more meta builds available, instead of seeing everyone running around as the same 1-2 options...

    I could see another easy option being a weapon-free skill line, that piggy backs off the existing weapon/skill animations. Effects like X frost dmg and DOT, but you swipe with your sword or shoot your bow (whichever is equipped), while its glowing blue and some snowflakes appear. Or a fire version that fears the target for 1 second, and adds some flames to your existing animations.

    Spell bows have always been my favorite, and having magical variants to your standard arrows would take things to the next level. Or skills that alter attacks or other skills i.e cast a flame enchantment before casting arrow barrage. Or a frost enchantment before heavy attacking (psijic order already has a skill like this).

    There are plenty of options, they instead just focus on their scummy marketing plans, instead of actually improving or adding to the game. Makes me wonder what they do with all the money they're making off gem exclusives...

    First of all, this is no reason not to release a new weapon type, and this "issue" is already present with current motifs: Nerien’eth is not available for swords/maces/axes/etc. just staves, daggers, bows, greatswords, and shields.

    Anyhow, an easy work around: release a new zone where spear fighting is native to that culture alone, and lore-explain that it hasn't really caught on with the other races/alliances yet. At launch it would only be available in a new motif released with the new zone, and any new motifs moving forward.

    Plenty of other games encounter this "issue" when wanting to add something new to the base mechanics or features, but they still. just. do it. Players don't care if you don't release all previous motifs overnight, thats understandably a huge project. The very least you could do is release the new shiny thing, get everybody excited, and retcon where needed.

    I want the rest of everything else fixed before they add something else that will likely end up broken into the game.

    Then after that, yes. Something like a hybrid 1h magicka / 1h weapon would be my first choice.
