What about random encounters update?

We usually get DLC that adds new zone or dungeons and some short storyline but the Elder Scrolls series offered some nice random encounters depending on your progress. We all know ebon warrior, some bandit attack, thiefs. There is not quite much of that in ESO. I would love to see more random encounters independent and dependent and on the zone and also storyline and character progress progress.

Random encounters that do not require any progress like bandits attack, thiefs asking for our money or live, small monster attacks and also just random people with interesting dialogues. Each of these scales to your level (more powerfull when you play in group).

Random encounters that depends on the zone, similar to the ones above but with enemy type from the zone.

Random encounters that depends on the progress for example you finish Greymoor so you can be attacked by revengeful vampires, you finished Elsweyr you can be attacked by dragon. Main storyline, more Molag Bal servants attacks.

Group random encounters/events (very rare that offers some nice drops). You are in some city buying some items in the guild store when deadra or dragons, or some other powerfull enemies attacks the City, NPC run away or hide, guards are unable to fight (dead or just unconscious), we can't attack NPC's at the momment but we have to fight a lot of mobs and defeat powerfull boss of even few and we can't just solo such event, wee need other people to help. The event can be scaled depending on the number of players in the city.

I believe this can make the game more alive, worth exploring even when we already now every part of Tamriel. With actually minimum effort every new DLC can add some new random encounters so we can always exceept some surprise. Specific awards like antiques leads, part of rare set, some largere amount of gold, exp buffs.

I would love to see some new approach to the game updates/DLC's. They do not always have to offer new dungeons. Schematism can be boring.

But there are random encounters. Bandits, beggars, M'aiq, Choixth, zone-specific NPC: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Encounters

No thanks...would make even picking flowers with a tank completely unbearable. When farming on my tank waiting for some group to fill, I often spend the time farming mats....the last thing I need is unavoidable mobs.

This is not argumernt at all.

How playing in the zone could be unberable? Enemies are weak, only Craglorn could be a challenge for some unexpirenced player. I mean this is the easiest part of the game which makes it boring btw. Even most of WBs could be done solo without quite much effort using high CP character. Usually random encounters in The Elder Scrolls game is happening close to important locations or on the road and Im not talking about one encounter every corner and every minute.

Anyway farming materials considering the time you need for that and the time you can spent on just trading them is completely not worth it and Im saying this as a trader which earns at least 1m of pure profit each week spending like total of 2-3 hours in the game. xD Farming materials for own purpose or for trading is such a waste of time for me. Anyway if you like it then I don't think that more interesting random encounters that we have already will stop you.

I can’t see random city wide attacks working well. Players are often just trying to get non-combat related things done, and massive interruptions that shut the city down would be extremely irritating. Imagine being in the middle of browsing guild stores or crafting and suddenly facing a giant boss enemy.

Random encounters in the wild could add interest, but again, questers, explorers and harvesters are not necessarily looking for a boss battle to disrupt what they are trying to accomplish.

I don’t think the idea is terrible, but it would have to be implemented in a way that adds excitement and variety without interfering with players doing what they like in the game. I think the closest thing we will get to this are the dolmen / geysers / dragons / harrowstorms, and whatever future group event thing the developers come up with.

I would prefer well thought out content in designated locations like the Dragon fights/Dolmens/Geysers/Harrowstorms/WB's etc... I would hate to rely on RNG to encounter something in the game, either it will be too frequent to the point of being annoying or it will be so rare, that most players never know it exists.

I would rather know I can experience the context by going to X location on the map at some point if I choose to.

We already have encounters in every zone, some funny, some offensive. My problem is they don't drop anything important. It would be nice to get some rare recipe or blueprint from vampires in western skyrim for example, or more achievements to unlock titles and dyes like those in the base game. Encounters occur in designated locations, so they are easy to avoid if not in the mood to handle, let's say, a drunk nord.

@Gundug I understand your point of view but group encounters/events that happens once in the month don't need to be frustrating at all. Such event with nice drops can't be something people would hate. Nice socore table at the end, rewards for the best and nice drops for everyone. The only thing that might be a problem is zone overload which we all know how looks like.

Once-per-month random event that completely disrupts any activity in the area and has competitive element? Ewwww. Make it have unique loot too, if you want people to really hate it.

You sound like a farmer to me. Not everyone is playing mmo to farm/grind or stay all day in one place doing same boring nothing. There is nothing wrong when an element of surprise appears in the game and especially when you have the option to ignore it if you are not interested using a minute of your time by leaving the location or by just waiting until it's done.
