Housing - Ability to Sleep & Well Rested buff

Hey, it would be great if we (our characters, that is) could actually sleep on beds. I thought about it while decorating my house, and remembered that ES5 - Skyrim (and Fallout 4) used to give you a buff for sleeping on your own bed.

What if, instead of simply logging out, you actually interact with your bed and sleep? Sleeping would log you out of the game when selected. After a certain time offline, you get Well Rested buff when logging in again, which increase XP gains for some hours. If someone visits your house, they should see your character (one per account) sleeping there.

This would be an amazing and imersive way to log out (let's say, if you ran out of time for today and would only log in again tomorrow), and get a XP buff for the first hours of gameplay.

We have Enlightenment which is exactly what you describe, only skipping the unnecessary loading screen to enter your house and get out of it.

Imagine getting like 50% extra XP combined with Enlightenment. Crazy XP gains FTW.

I'm well aware of that, for I'm playing ESO for more than five years. I just suggested a comeback to a very nice feature most Bethesda games have.

But why? This is only useful for new players. Once you get your feet wet you know all the ways to level new characters fast.

Yes how DARE you come onto these forums and suggest a game enhancement! You must be new, these forums are only for lag gripes, nerf gripes and the occasional Fake Tank thread, oh and the your pet is in my way at the crafting table thread. Get a grip!

I liked it, who cares why, it isn't in the game now and would be cool.

Personally, I'd just like to be able to get in my brand new 4-poster Imperial bed, instead of cracking my head on the frame even when crouched.

2 events tickets for a functionally useless item that you can't even get on to emote /sleep if you wanted to.

    Just sayin'...

That would be really cool. At *least* let us lie down on the beds by clicking on them, but using it to log out would be very cool.

Do it like Fallout 76. If you sleep in your bed, you get fixed +5% EXP buff for two hours.

I always wanted them to do something like this. Doesn't have to be experience points, actually I agree with others that we have enough sources of exp gain. How about food and drink duration buff? Every hour you're logged out in your home you gain 1 minute of food and drink duration up to 24 minutes. Deterioration of buff would work the same, every minute you're logged in outside of a home you lose one minute of the bonus duration.

The buff doesn't matter much to me. Anything worthwhile without being overpowered, just to give more incentive to utilize houses.

As for the idea, I think it would be cool and it would add a bit more immersion to the game.

There are many ways to make this work without having it give you too much advantage or having players abuse it.

Finally being able to actually lie down on a bed in our homes would be great!

A "Well Rested" buff would be a neat idea to lend some functionality to homes without making it necessary to buy anything big.
Everyone gets an Inn room for free, so all you need is a bed. Or a bed roll, for that matter, which is very easy to find and craft, (or very cheap to buy).

I actually don't care what the bonus is, but it probably shouldn't be too big.
A small buff to Max Magicka/Stamina for a while would represent the actual effects of being well rested, I think. But if that upsets the delicate balance of game mechanics (or Min/Maxers) just make it XP bonus, Gold bonus, Speed bonus, I don't care.
Or set up an achievement with different stages. One time sleeping in your bed every day counts towards it, and you get a nice piece of furniture or something else for every stage. (Fluffy pillow, soft blanket, nightcap hat, nightshirt costume...)

Just interacting with a bed would be nice. Why was it left out of the list when we got to sit on all those chairs and benches? Why not also let us interact with beds by sitting on the edges or sleeping on the left/right sides.

I barely touch housing myself, and only have those free Inn closets from the quests, so I don't know if you can or can't interact with beds already.

Maybe it could give something akin to that removed vampire passive everyone's crying about? Something like a few hour buff so all the tryhards can run their dungeons again at peak efficiency? ;)

I suspect that they didn't make beds interactable because there are furnishings made to go onto beds, like pillows, plushies and such, that would mess up the interaction. Maybe? You know how crafting stations go dead if they're too close to other stuff, and you have to put chairs far enough away from tables, etc. I dunno, just a guess.

Yes! There's also a bed for free when you hit Lv18. So, free bed, free Inn room. Absolutely nothing to pay and a nice buff if you sleep. Wouldn't that be awesome?

I love the idea of being able to sleep in your beds, just like you can sit in chairs.

Though at 1300+ CP, and XP buff really isn't appealing to me. How about getting a small speed buff for 30-60 minutes when you first wake up? Like minor swiftness or something?

I agree we should be able to have our characters lay down on a bed. However, there is no need for a buff and especially no reason for an XP buff as we get so many of those already.

Just simply being able to lay our characters down on a bed is sufficient.

Sorry, but a speed buff first thing in the morning is the most unrealistic thing I've ever heard. :D

Totally on point because fantasy never portrays anything unrealistic, right? :p;)

BUT, let's also think on another angle here. What if we could lay in a bed for the XP buffs then there would be less scrolls given out, less to clutter our bags, less in the daily rewards, more incentive and usefulness with housing for everyone...

    Eh. Potato, potahto I guess.

Off topic and slight sarcasm: I also want a table where I can specifically put all my crown poisons, potions, and gems so they don't clutter my bags up and instead use them for housing decorations until when I might need to use those...wait..nvm.

It's not THAT unrealistic. You sleep, you wake up refreshed and full of energy, and you can run a little bit faster for a few minutes.

If the speed buff doesn't fly with you, throw out some alternatives. We're just kicking around the idea here. :)

Be neat to add. I know Oblivion had a similar buff as well (or I could be remembering wrong). Skyrim vampires also got a neat buff when they slept in a coffin, although not sure what kind of buff would be implemented.

I know right?!? I have a fully decorated Daggerfall Manor but I've spent maybe 5mins inside in the last month. All my crafting, mundus, and related bits are outside which leaves me little reason to go inside to do anything. A bed that gives a buff (speed, health, whatever) would go a long way to encouraging a visit inside.

I think maybe a mag/hp/stam regen buff would be nice. Wouldn't have to be something huge and game breaking, just a nice little add.
