Why not just disable tells to opposing factions in PvP zones?

With the new TOS there is no doubt going to be an increase in reporting players for talking smack in PvP, why bog down the support system with this? What is the reason for tells in PvP if not to talk smack? I do not believe the enemy can hear my /yells or my /say, certainly cannot read zone chat so there must already be coding for this.

I’ve had some great conversations with enemy players, many of whom made it on my friends list to this day. I’ve had far more positive or humorous exchanges with members of the other factions than I have toxicity.

This has been consistently true since around May 2016 when a certain AD was finally banned after years of daily telling people to kill themselves and threatening their families. And zos knew about this guy and did nothing. And his own guild and friends knew how out of control he was and did nothing “but he’s such a great guy to us!” While his impotent rage was funny to me and not hurtful, it also clearly crossed a line.

Post not being, the former should not be removed just to address the latter. I don’t want to lose the ability to interact with other factions, and I suspect most people feel the same.

I've had friendly convos with opposing factions as well, but the toxic tells I receive far outweigh the friendly ones. Maybe it's because I main a NB.

I've also had far more friendly and constructive tells from other faction players!
    So why remove it enmass???

Yeah, the very rare times I feel dumb enough to involve myself in open PvP, even if I'm solo and just happened to come across some faction fighting, I'd get a rude tell when I died insulting me for being a Khajiit Nightblade, which was the first character I made at launch and my only PvP option I have set up for the environment. I'm not even that good with it, and since I haven't done any trials nor most DLC my gear options are limited compared to others.

People just really have a sour attitude towards certain things. It's been a while since I've don't PvP though but just sharing.

To let people you meet while questing know you don't plan to kill them, but please do not stand in your AoE.

Honestly, I've mostly had friendly conversations in Cyrodiil, including the AD player that helped me get unstuck one time when my group was clearing a delve and a troll knocked me behind a root. They were a DK and used chains to pull me out.

Okay, how about being able to disable it then? I personally would disable tells because I am tired of getting them. I am just having fun, I don't need the toxicity even for a second.

You can go into your chat options and deselect whispers.

Set yourself to offline and nobody can whisper you (though, oddly enough, you can still whisper people)

On the very rare occasion I get a huge rage from another player I just respond with a very truthful quote from @DeadlyRecluse

That's insane. I play NA Ravenwatch exclusively and can think of 4 times just in the past week or so lol...maybe it is just that instance? I literally have had people send me toxic crap after killing ME lol. Like where I am just riding somewhere and get destroyed by some dudes out of nowhere then tea-bagged and hate tells lol.

Aside from that a lot of it comes from just being a Nightblade even if I don't base my playstyle on ganking. Any time someone gets killed by me they will consider it a gank just because of my class. For some reason people just rage when getting killed by a NB, even if there are plenty of other classes roaming Cyrodiil and ganking people.

Some of my best conversations have been with enemy players and sometimes it leads to us dueling, sharing builds, and other things like that. Heck, the other day me and an EP shared fashion advice!

Usually when I get hate tells and it gets.... Excessive I just set myself offline and problem solved!!! I dare not put them on ignore because then that means their name gets immortalized on that list. Can't have that!

That's funny. Most of the toxic whispers I've gotten are from nightblades. One was super salty that I used jabs to pull him out of stealth instead of magelight and told me I was playing wrong after I killed him. I still get a good chuckle out of it.

I wouldn't trade the toxic whispers though because that would mean missing out on the nice conversations I have with people in enemy factions. On the days I don't want to deal, I just put myself in offline mode.

Noooo. Not all tells in pvp are hate tells lol. In fact the overwhelming majority of my tells with players in opposing factions while in pvp land have been positive or humorous. Like when a guy with a toon named Mostly Harmless absolutely obliterated me one day, I whispered him I think it was time for a name change token, or the 'that was hilarious' I got when I was using the drunk personality and rp walked up to a bunch of enemy players taking a rss, or the lols I got when I tried to stop a zerg with my bare fists and wearing nothing at all. Or the time I got some guy repeatedly to execute but couldnt quite finish the deal on the slippery sob, and told him 'well played' after he finally beat me. Also the numerous occasions Ive said or had someone tell me, im just here for the lead or for the boss, or just hiding in a corner waiting for my queue out to pop. A lot of the tells are toxiv, but not all.

Yesterday in IC sewers, 2 players from an opposing faction aggro’d a Flag Boss - 1 died, and the other tried to hide, spamming invisibility, but still crouching in the same spot hoping to revive his friend. They were clearly in over their heads, so I whispered, “rez your buddy, and then get out of here - you are too close to our base.” Sometimes tells aren’t toxic - and I am glad we have the ability.

    Why?

The I don't like the hate tells and the I like the compliments tells is pretty much a wash. So is there some other reason?

I wish some members of other factions would talk to me or allow me to talk to them before they outright attack me. If I'm in a PvP zone, it's only because there's an event going on and I'm after the tickets/boxes. I don't go after enemy players and I wish they would leave me alone. But, every single player I've met from an opposing faction has turned around and killed me, or chased me down and killed me when I saw him quickly enough to try to run away. Yes, I get it, it's a PvP zone. I'm not mad about being killed, but if some players were inclined to talk first, I would love that.

If you have to ask you probably don't get it.

How about you try this: Join a PvP guild, play a faction other than whatever the guild is running at the moment, kill them a few times, then talk smack to them in guild chat.
